MLS 2017 – Sunday 23rd April Matches Betting Preview

The final three matches of this weekend’s MLS action take place on Sunday evening with two of them being shown on TV in the UK and the other one widely available at the bookmaker streaming consoles. The first two matches are the TV ones but we’ll go through all three here.

New York City FC vs Orlando City

The Sunday action begins at Yankee Stadium as New York City FC host Orlando City. Both sides will have their eye on winning the Eastern Conference this year so in that regard this is a match with a little on it.

It isn’t really a match I can find a betting angle on though. I can never truly call New York City matches while Orlando are no longer the open and expansive side they used to be which makes predicting difficult. With that in mind I’ll sit out this opening game.

Los Angeles Galaxy vs Seattle Sounders

The second TV match comes from LA as the Galaxy take on the Seattle Sounders in one of the bigger profiled matches of the weekend. The Galaxy will be looking to reclaim the MLS title this season while Seattle will be looking for a successful title defence.

The Galaxy are in a run of winning then losing as a sequence which they will hope to continue here as it means they are due to win while Seattle only have one win all season. There isn’t much consistency in these two sides at the minute so this is another game which isn’t one to bet on in my eyes.

Minnesota United vs Colorado Rapids

The two bottom sides in the Western Conference meet to conclude the weekend. Minnesota United head into the match second from bottom in the table while Colorado Rapids are bottom. Both sides have one win to their name this season.

I think the league positions are justified here. These two are poor sides but they will see this as an opportunity to pick up a much needed win so I fancy there will be a more open feel about this one. There have been an amazing 36 goals in Minnesota matches this season including four when these two met in Colorado earlier in the season.

Minnesota continue to look wide open defensively but they are starting to score goals a lot more regularly and with Tim Howard out for the Rapids I fancy we’ll get another batch of goals here like we did in the reverse fixture.
