Super League XXII – Sunday 23rd April Matches Betting Preview

The Super League weekend draws to a close on Sunday afternoon when the league leaders are back in action in one of two matches in the elite top flight of the game. We also have the champions on display on Sunday so we are set for another exciting afternoon of the greatest game in the world.

Hull FC vs Castleford

One of the two matches is a Yorkshire derby between Hull FC and Castleford. Both sides head into the contest off the back of disappointing results over Easter but I would be more concerned for Hull FC than for Castleford.

Hull FC are shipping points at an alarming rate right now and have given up more than 50pts in each of their last two home matches – to Salford and Leeds respectively. With that in mind they could probably do without a rampant Castleford attack getting stuck into them.

Castleford were beaten at St Helens on Easter Monday but I can kind of forgive them that because with the short turnaround in Easter matches they might have done their prep work for the game before Kieron Cunningham was sacked and got caught off guard by Saints’ change in approach.

Castleford look good to get back to winning ways at 4/5 here. Hull FC have defensive issues and if one side are going to exploit them it is this Castleford lot so I’m on the visitors in this one.

Wigan Warriors vs Catalans Dragons

The champions head into this match at the DW Stadium off the back of a pair of wins over the Easter period but they take on a side who also enjoyed back to back wins over the festive campaign in the Catalans Dragons.

Wigan Warriors had it tough over Easter with wins over strong St Helens and Wakefield sides while Catalans beat a poor Huddersfield outfit and then had the benefit of 48hrs extra recovery time ahead of their win over Salford.

I like Wigan in this match. They have come key players back for them not least Joe Burgess whereas the Dragons have extended their injury list with the additions of Krisnan Inu who is a big player for them as well as Justin Horo who is also big. Wigan are only having to give up 10pts here but with Catalans’ injury list and their history of road struggles I fancy the hosts can cover that.
