With the international weekend in operation there is a heavily truncated set of matches in Major League Soccer this week as the MLS continues to head towards the end of the regular season. Those who are in action will be desperate for the three points to assist their ambitions.
Four fixtures take place in the league in all with the first coming on Friday night and then the remaining three being played over the course of Saturday evening. All four are on at different times so lovers of the league can have a weekend marathon watching it.
The weekend fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off in brackets)
Los Angeles FC vs Houston Dynamo (Saturday 3.30am)
Minnesota United vs Colorado Rapids (Saturday 7pm)
DC United vs FC Dallas (Saturday 9.55pm)
New England Revolution vs Orlando City (Sunday 12.30am)
Preview
In truth there are not many sides with much to play for in these fixtures but the big match of the weekend is the one on TV in the UK which sees Wayne Rooney and his DC United side looking to finally make it into the top six when they host an FC Dallas team who will be looking to move seven points clear of Sporting Kansas City at the top of the Western Conference and maintaining their dominance of it.
Los Angeles FC can pile the pressure on Dallas on Friday night if they can come away with a win against the Houston Dynamo. They will move into second if they avoid defeat but a win sends them to within a point of Dallas for a few hours at least. New England Revolution can still qualify for the play-offs but they are a longshot now so their match with Orlando City and the game between Minnesota United and Colorado Rapids lack anything competitive in them.

Betting
On the face of it I like Los Angeles FC to beat the Houston Dynamo but they have a few away on international duty which makes me reluctant to take them to cover a 1.75 goal handicap. They may still do it but the margin for it is not as large as I would want if I was to take such a line so I’ll move to one of Saturday’s matches for a bet.
Minnesota United are very strong at home and although they have nothing to play for they have not just jacked the season in. They have seen off Portland Timbers and New York City FC in their last two home matches and are generally very strong. Colorado Rapids haven’t really got going all season and it will not help them that they are without Kellyn Acosta, clearly their standout player, who is on international duty. Darwin Quintero is around for Minnesota and his influence can guide them to a big win.
Tips
Back Minnesota United (-1AH) to beat Colorado Rapids for a 4/10 stake at 1.95 with BetVictor
