It is a busy night in the MLS on Saturday evening with nine matches taking place around America with the undoubted highlight being the debut of Wayne Rooney in the league for his DC United outfit.
That match is the focus of the TV cameras in the UK on Saturday evening which leaves us needing to use the streaming consoles to keep up to date with all the other matches that are taking place on the card.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)
New York City FC vs Columbus Crew (00.00)
New York Red Bulls vs Sporting Kansas City (00.00)
Montreal Impact vs San Jose Earthquakes (00.30)
New England Revolution vs Los Angeles Galaxy (00.30)
DC United vs Vancouver Whitecaps (01.00)
FC Dallas vs Chicago Fire (01.00)
Minnesota United vs Real Salt Lake (01.00)
Orlando City vs Toronto FC (01.00)
Colorado Rapids vs Houston Dynamo (02.00)
Big Matches
The Wayne Rooney debut will get almost all of the attention on Saturday evening so the DC United vs Vancouver Whitecaps match is pretty big. It is also big because DC open up their new stadium Audi Field and play their first actual home game of the season. With Atlanta not playing until Sunday, New York City can go level with them at the top of the Eastern Conference when they take on Columbus Crew.
Best of the Rest
The race to stay top of the Western Conference is also part of the evening. FC Dallas lead the way and will stay top if they can see off the Chicago Fire but if they were to be beaten then Sporting Kansas City will head back to the top of the pile should they find a win at New York Red Bulls. The defending champions Toronto FC really need a win when they go to Orlando City while New England Revolution against Los Angeles Galaxy should be an appealing match too.

Betting
I’m going to ride the overs on the goal lines on Saturday evening and I’m certainly expecting goals at Audi Field where DC United open their new stadium not just full of motivation but with a new star signing in Wayne Rooney. Vancouver Whitecaps will be aiming to spoil their party and they are full of dangerous players themselves so I’m expecting the overs to land in this one with both sides playing well at the minute.
I also expect goals in the match between Orlando City and Toronto FC. Orlando City are leaking floods of goals at the minute but they always seem to have a goal in themselves at home. Toronto FC need to get going this season and will need to go in the search for goals themselves although in fairness I don’t think they are going to need to do anything out of the ordinary to find the net in this match. This should be an open match with both needing to win and so I’ll take over 3.25 goals accordingly.
