Another weekend of action in the MLS season gets underway on Saturday night when nine matches take place in the American competition and with the regular season end starting to be seen in the distance every match takes on added significance here.
We have one match on the TV for those of us in the UK with the matches into the early hours of Sunday morning being on the various live streams on show for us to enjoy the remainder of the gme.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)
Colorado Rapids vs Atlanta United (20.30)
Philadelphia Union vs Montreal Impact (00.30)
Toronto FC vs Los Angeles Galaxy (00.30)
FC Dallas vs Columbus Crew (01.00)
Houston Dynamo vs Portland Timbers (01.30)
Real Salt Lake vs Minnesota (02.30)
Vancouver Whitecaps vs Seattle Sounders (03.00)
Los Angeles FC vs New England Revolution (03.30)
San Jose Earthquakes vs Sporting Kansas City (03.30)
Big Matches
The TV match for those of us in the UK is the first one between the Colorado Rapids and Atlanta United in which Atlanta can regain top spot in the Eastern Conference for a few hours at the very least. The Western Conference leaders FC Dallas take on Columbus Crew with the chance to extend their lead in that table depending on other results. The other big game is the Cascadia Cup clash between the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Seattle Sounders.
Best of the Rest
Philadelphia Union host Montreal Impact with the play-off spots very much in the spotlight there while Toronto FC against LA Galaxy sees Sebastian Giovinco going up against Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Sporting Kansas City will look to keep up the heat on FC Dallas in the Western Conference when they head to San Jose Earthquakes.

Betting
I’ll go with two bets over the course of the night with the first one coming in the Toronto FC and Los Angeles Galaxy where I expect the goals to flow. Galaxy have shipped 11 goals in their last two away matches and while they have changed coach in that time he is not going to have any new tools to work with. Toronto FC have goals in them but they can leak them at the best of times as well. This is becoming must win for both side in their hunt for a playoff spot so over 3.5 goals is a fairly easy selection.
The other bet I like is for Real Salt Lake to cover the handicap against Minnesota United. That handicap is 1.25 which I’m expecting them to cover comfortably. Real Salt Lake have hit a real groove at the minute and have scored six goals in each of their last two games. They have the best home record in MLS and take on the side with the worst away record who played in midweek and were pretty soundly beaten in the game. This all points to a big home win to me.
