MLS 2018 – Thursday 23rd August Matches Betting Preview

Rivalry week continues in the MLS on Thursday evening with another match in both Conferences as we begin to head towards the end of the regular season. Not only is there bragging rights at stake but points are becoming more important so this looks like a good night of action.

We are drawn to the live stream services to catch both of these matches as neither are on TV in the UK however most bookmakers show this league so there is no reason to miss any of the action once again.

Chicago Fire vs Columbus Crew

The opening match comes from the Eastern Conference as the woeful Chicago Fire host a Columbus Crew side who will be eager to get back to winning ways after losing in Atlanta last weekend. Chicago have lost their last eight matches and will be desperate to avoid another loss here.

I think the obvious call here is for the Crew to win but we saw on Wednesday night that the intensity of these matches are beginning to get serious and I’m still in no rush to take a side at close to evens on the road. That said though, until Chicago show anything that suggests they’ve not given up on their season I can’t be backing them either. This is the most simple of no bets.

Houston Dynamo vs FC Dallas

The second match of the night is from the Western Conference as the Texas derby takes place when the Houston Dynamo host FC Dallas in a match between two sides going in opposite directions at the minute.

Dallas go into the match on top of the Conference and could move six points clear with a win here while Houston have won just one of their last nine, losing their last five matches and have slid right away from playoff contention. They were beaten late on by Real Salt Lake at the weekend and looked like a side devoid of any confidence.

The last four meetings between these two have been draws and given the rivalry this could be a draw again but Dallas look in a much better position than Houston to me so I’m going to chance that they come out on top here. Houston have only won one of the last 15 matches between these two so FC Dallas with the quarter ball start must be the play here especially with how poor Houston looked on Saturday night.
