MLS 2019 – Saturday 25th May Matches Betting Preview

The MLS weekend is spread over three nights this week with the bulk of the action coming on Saturday night as the campaign heads towards the mid-season break. A number of the leading sides are on show on Friday night but the pacesetters in the East headline the Saturday card.

In all there are seven matches on show on Saturday with one of them on the TV for us MLS followers on this side of the pond. The other six are all going to be streamed in the usual places so we can keep up with what should be a decent night of action.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)

Chicago Fire v New York City FC (20.30)

Vancouver Whitecaps FC v FC Dallas (00.00)

FC Cincinnati v New York Red Bulls (00.30)

New England Revolution v D.C. United (00.30)

Philadelphia Union v Portland Timbers (00.30)

Minnesota United FC v Houston Dynamo (01.00)

Big Matches

The televised match in the UK is the first match of the night as the Chicago Fire take on the New York City FC side in an Eastern Conference clash in which the Fire can really enhance their postseason credentials with a victory. The real top match of the night sees the Eastern leaders Philadelphia Union taking on the former champions Portland Timbers in what should be a juicy match up. Bruce Arena takes charge of the New England Revolution for the first time when they play host to Wayne Rooney’s DC United side.

There are four other matches on the card with three of them being Conference clashes. In the West, Vancouver Whitecaps will go up against FC Dallas in a battle of two sides who went well last time out. Minnesota United host Houston Dynamo in what should be an entertaining clash in the other game in the Conference. Over in the east FC Cincinnati will look to get over their tonking by Orlando City when they host the New York Red Bulls while the final match of the evening sees the Colorado Rapids taking on Columbus Crew.

Betting

There is just the one bet which interests me in what looks like a tricky card to call on Saturday evening. It comes from Minnesota where I fancy the home side Minnesota United and Houston Dynamo can deliver an entertaining contest and one which has a few goals in it. Both teams have started the season well and have been free scoring so there is no reason for that not to continue here.

Houston Dynamo have kept only one clean sheet in their 11 matches this season, which came against Columbus Crew, the second lowest scoring side in MLS, and they have only failed to score in one game all term which was away to the Seattle Sounders, one of the better sides in the competition. Minnesota are not as strong defensively but they carry a decent attacking threat so over 2.75 goals should be perfectly attainable here.
