MLS 2019 – Wednesday 26th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The MLS has returned and although the Gold Cup and Copa America, which has a number of players from the competition in it, is still ongoing, there is a midweek round of action which could have a big say in the overall picture.

In total there are six matches over the course of the night going deep into the early hours of Thursday morning for those of us who are in the UK. We are reduced to the streams for these games too with none of them on UK TV.

Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off in brackets)

Montreal Impact v Portland Timbers (00.30)

D.C. United v Orlando City SC (01.00)

Preview

There are six matches in total on the night with three of them being Eastern Conference clashes with a couple of all-Western Conference matches and one cross-Conference game on what should be an entertaining night of action in the top American league.

The top four in the Eastern Conference are all on show on Wednesday night when Philadelphia Union, Montreal Impact, DC United and Atlanta United take to the field of play. Leaders Philadelphia head to the New England Revolution while Montreal Impact host a confident Portland Timbers. DC United welcome Orlando City to Washington while Atlanta United match the trip to Toronto. The other two matches sees FC Dallas hosting Vancouver Whitecaps and SAN Jose Earthquakes welcoming the Houston Dynamo to California.

Betting

I like one bet over the course of the night but we have to wait a while for it to come around as it is in the last Western Conference battle between San Jose Earthquakes and the Houston Dynamo deep in the early hours of Thursday morning UK time. It is the home side I like here and I’m a little surprised at the price too.

Houston Dynamo went to Portland at the weekend and were done up 4-0. They are missing key players to international duty and also to injury so it is probably going to be a couple more matches before we see them being competitive again. They never truly convince me on the road anyway I have to say. San Jose Earthquakes went into the break in fine form and although Anibal Godoy is away they are not hit too badly by international call ups so I see no reason for their form to falter here. With Chris Wondolowski in the form he is in I have to take the Earthquakes to come through this one.
