There is a mini midweek round of matches in Major League Soccer this week with four matches taking place up and down the country on Wednesday night and with both tables having a tight feel about them, it could be a key night in the campaign.
The break for the Gold Cup is starting to get closer so the eight teams who are in action over the course of Wednesday will be looking to start off a consistent run of form that has them in good shape come the halfway stage.
Wednesday fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)
Atlanta United FC v Toronto FC (00.00)
Columbus Crew SC v LA Galaxy (00.30)
Chicago Fire v New England Revolution (01.00)
New York Red Bulls v Montreal Impact (01.00)
Preview
We have one televised offering among the four matches on Wednesday night. That comes from the only cross-Conference match on show as the Columbus Crew play host to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his LA Galaxy teammates. The Galaxy will go top of the West if they can pick up the win but the Columbus Crew will be eager to end a rotten slump of five defeats on the spin in MLS.
Elsewhere it is the Western Conference all the way. The defending champions Atlanta United host their predecessors Toronto FC while the Chicago Fire will be looking for a win which could propel them into the top seven when they host the New England Revolution, who themselves will hope for a win that pulls them off the bottom of the table. The other match sees the New York Red Bulls hosting high-flying Montreal Impact at Red Bull Arena.

Betting
These midweek matches have thrown up some very strange results so far this season so I’m betting with a slight amount of caution here but I do like the Chicago Fire in their home match against the New England Revolution, a contest I expect them to win with a fair amount in hand all things being equal.
Fire have only lost one of their five home matches this term, which came against the Seattle Sounders and there is no massive disgrace in losing to them. New England Revolution play their third successive away match here and they have shipped 10 goals in the first two of them so confidence could be a little low. Chicago know how to score goals and although they have lost their last three, they are better at home and I have enough faith in them getting the job done here.
