MLS 2020 Play-Offs – Saturday 21st November Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The MLS Cup Play-offs continue on Saturday night and after an entertaining evening of football in the Play-In round on Friday we now get the main draw underway with a couple of entertaining looking clashes in the Eastern Conference.

Spots in the Conference semi-finals are the prize for the winners over the course of Saturday night so there is plenty at stake for the four sides on show, each of whom have had good seasons but that will turn into a poor one should they lose here.

Where to watch

There is a choice of channel to watch these matches on over the course of Saturday night. Sky subscribers can watch them on the Sky Sports Football channels but those without Sky can watch them on Free Sports. Both matches are also available at the bookmakers streaming services.

Orlando City vs New York City FC (17.00)

The first of the two matches on Saturday night comes from down in Florida where the MLS is Back finalists Orlando City look to showcase  their knockout football credentials when they entertain a New York City FC team who have flattered to deceive at times this season but who are incredibly dangerous still.

This should be a very entertaining match between two sides who are in decent form. Orlando City ended the season with a loss to Nashville SC but won three on the spin prior to that. New York City FC have won their last four matches and look to have found their scoring boots so there is a lot to like about them heading into this match. This clash is pretty tight to call as both teams are effective and have had good seasons.

One thing I do think we’ll get is an open game with plenty of goal action. That was the case in the two matches on Friday and it was the case in the play-offs last season so the mind set in MLS is clearly to go and win these games rather than eek a way through. Orlando are a pretty attacking side while New York City have bags of attacking quality. I’m not sure who will win this but when the final whistle goes I’m confident we’ll have seen more than 2.75 goals.

Columbus Crew vs New York Red Bulls (20.00)

The second part of the Saturday double header sees our pre-season title picks Columbus Crew in action. They host the New York Red Bulls for a place in the semi-finals against either Toronto FC or Nashville SC later in the campaign.

Columbus Crew looked like the team to beat for the first two-thirds of the campaign but as a few injuries struck they were found wanting and have been inconsistent towards the end of the regular season. New York Red Bulls go into this clash with a record of just one defeat in seven so they will be full of confidence heading over to Ohio. I still think the Crew are the best team in MLS when everyone is fit and firing but there probably isn’t a lot of value in backing them here at odds on. They carry enough of my cash in two outright bets so I’ll leave it that way.
