The weekend action in Major League Soccer begins with a couple of matches on Saturday evening ahead of the rest of the latest round of the heavily delayed campaign taking place on Sunday. Four teams battle it out for much needed points on Saturday.
Both the matches are live on TV for those of us who are on this side of the pond and are looking for a way to watch the action with a bet or two on. They are both at watchable times as well which makes it even better.
Chicago Fire vs Sporting Kansas City (20.30 – Sky Football)
The opening match of the night is a cross-Conference clash as the Chicago Fire go in search of the points they need to get back into the play-off zone when they host Sporting Kansas City who know they will go top of the Western Conference should they win.
I like Chicago Fire in this match. Firstly they have been making Soldier Field something of a fortress in recent times having won their last three matches there and that has to give them some confidence going into this one. Another reason why I like them is that the MLS schedule has been pretty hectic recently so the fact that Chicago saw their midweek match cancelled because of Covid issues may give them an advantage here. Sporting Kansas City have only won one of their last four away from home and this is their fifth match in 14 days and probably one they can afford to sack off if they need to in order to allow key players to remain fresh. Chicago don’t have that luxury as they need the points so I think they’ll be all out here and I think they’ll get the win.

Montreal Impact vs Inter Miami (00.30 – Sky Football)
The second match on the night is an all-Eastern Conference clash as the Montreal Impact take on Inter Miami on neutral soil with American teams not allowed into Canada in a match which is pretty big for the visitors as they chase a postseason spot in their debut season.
Both teams actually go into this match in fair form. Miami are undefeated in three and should naturally improve the longer their marquee signings have to impact the group. Montreal have lost their last two matches but it was only 10 days or so ago that they were beating Columbus Crew so they are not exactly in terrible nick themselves it must be said. The neutral nature of this game and both sides looking in alright nick makes me think this is a match to watch and enjoy the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Bojan and Gonzalo Higuain rather than bet on it.
