Big Matches
The televised action begins right at the start of the night with a couple of clashes from the Eastern Conference as the champions Columbus Crew host an Atlanta United side who have a lot of attention on them at the minute. FC Cincinnati take on Orlando City in the other of those matches. The attention then moves to the Western Conference where Portland Timbers will be looking for a victory in front of their home fans when they go up against Real Salt Lake.
Best of the Rest
There are four other matches that take place on Saturday evening, three from the Western Conference and one from the East. Over in the East, Toronto FC take on New York City FC while in the West, Sporting Kansas City will look to move clear at the top when they take on Colorado Rapids while Minnesota United welcome Houston Dynamo. The other match comes from the Toyota Stadium where FC Dallas take on Austin FC.
Betting
I happen to think the better bets come in this round of matches on Sunday but there is one that I like for Saturday and that comes in the form of Portland Timbers to see off Real Salt Lake. Portland are a decent side at home and with all their international players back now I expect them to put their foot down and start to deliver the goods with much more consistency than they have done recently. They look to have plenty in their favour against RSL.
Real Salt Lake don’t tend to do all that well on their travels and Portland isn’t the easiest place to travel to at the best of times. It will be interesting to see if there is more of a settled look about the Timbers here now that the Jeremy Ebobisse trade has finally gone through but when you look through these two sides Portland look to be the best of the two teams. When you add a strong home advantage to the mix I like the hosts here.
Tips
Back Portland Timbers to beat Real Salt Lake for a 3/10 stake at 1.91 with William Hill
