The eyes of the footballing world might be on the international game at the present time but there is one match being staged in Major League Soccer on Saturday evening as Sporting Kansas City play host to Austin FC.
Unfortunately there is no live TV coverage of this match although it is being shown on delay on Free Sports later in the evening. If you want to watch it when it kicks off then it is off to the bookmaker streams you will need to go.
Sporting Kansas City
It has been a positive start to the season for Sporting Kansas City, so much so that if they win this match they will move to the top of the Western Conference. They have already seen off Austin FC this term so they will be confident of picking up that win and getting themselves in an excellent position to build from when the league returns in full next weekend. Not only would they move a point clear at the top but they would put significant early ground between them and the play-off pack.
Sporting Kansas City have won five of their opening eight matches this term, scoring 15 goals in the process and creating a whole load more chances to have probably doubled their goal tally. The one concern for Peter Vermes and his coaching staff will be that they have leaked 10 goals in that period, keeping just the one clean sheet. He has an exciting core of attacking talent that he is putting the faith into, but all coaches like a degree of stability at the back.

Austin FC
Austin FC made a good start to their debut MLS campaign, winning two of their opening three matches but they have hit the skids since then and went into the international break with just one point from four matches. To their credit though, that came in a 0-0 draw away to the current Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders, which is certainly nothing like a disgraceful result. They are still yet to play a home match this season so anything they can pick up until they do taste home advantage will be a bonus.
Austin FC have that to look forward to next week and so in many ways they have little to lose here and can look to give this one a right good go in the hope of picking up a result and some confidence ahead of their home opener next weekend. A win here will take them all the way up to sixth place in the Western Conference table which really will represent a decent first quarter of the campaign. They have only scored five goals in their seven matches to date. That is a statistic they’ll be hoping to improve on moving forwards.
Betting
It isn’t ideal that Sporting Kansas City will be without Alan Pulido in this match but I still think we’ll get a few goals in this match. Goals tend to come naturally in Sporting Kansas City matches and if the day ever comes when they put away everything that they create someone is going to take a right good tonking. They don’t keep clean sheets as a rule though which will keep Austin FC interested throughout the course of the 90 minutes.
When these two met earlier in the season Sporting Kansas City won 2-1 in one of the most open and wild games I’ve seen in the MLS this term. It isn’t exaggerating it to suggest SKC could have had double figures that day, but Austin remained a threat on the counterattack. That is pretty much how I expect this one to play out as well so even a little shorter than the prices I usually like to take, I like the over 2.5 goals in this one.
