It is Independence Day in the United States on Monday and at the end of the celebrations we will have four MLS matches to entertain us as eight teams look to bolster their position in the respective Conference tables.
Two of the four matches are live on the TV for us in the UK to get stuck into and as is always the case those two and the other two will be able to be streamed on the bookmakers sites, although the last couple are deep into the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Monday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)

Colorado Rapids v Austin FC (02.00)

Preview
The action begins in the Eastern Conference when Orlando City play host to DC United in a match which gives both teams the opportunity to come out of a bit of a slump. Neither side are in particularly great form and then when you add in Orlando’s US Open Cup defeat last week a sorry picture. When they are done we head to the Western Conference where the table toppers from last season, Colorado Rapids, host one of the better teams in it this season in Austin FC.
The last two matches are both games featuring a side in each Conference and the first of those to kick off comes from Texas where FC Dallas will look to end their own rough trot of form when they take on what looks to be the ideal opponent in Inter Miami. The final match of the weekend sees LA Galaxy on show. They are four days away from the next ‘El Trafico’ which could feature both Giorgio Chiellini and Gareth Bale but before they get there the Californians welcome CF Montreal, who headed the Eastern Conference heading into this set of fixtures.
Betting
I’ll go with one over the course of the night and while I’m tempted massively in the home teams Orlando City and FC Dallas, their form doesn’t really merit backing them at odds on prices so tentatively I’ll leave them alone and instead turn my attention to the final match of the night where I don’t believe LA Galaxy should be odds on to beat CF Montreal, a side who were on top of the Eastern Conference prior to the Independence Day weekend matches beginning.
One of the reasons why Montreal were in that position has been their away form. We’ll ignore their early results because they were juggling Champions League commitments then but since then they have won at FC Cincinnati, New York Red Bulls, Charlotte FC and Seattle Sounders and got a point on the road in Philadelphia. That is great away from against sides who go well at home. LA Galaxy aren’t going well at home. They have won less than half of their home matches this season and are massively flattering to deceive. They will be light on attacking numbers here having Kevin Cabral and Douglas Costa suspended and have only won one of their last six outings, five of which have been at home. Galaxy have already lost four matches at home this season and while they might not lose this one I don’t think they are value to win at all. I’ll take Montreal to get a result.
