MLS 2022 – Sunday 20th March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The latest weekend of action in the MLS 2022 season finishes on Sunday evening and after a Saturday that was full of goals we should expect much more of the same across the three matches which remain.

Two of these three matches will be live on TV for us in the UK to sit back and enjoy but both of them and the other one will be shown live with the bookmaker streaming on a night where a number of potential title protagonists are on show.

New York Red Bulls vs Columbus Crew (18.00)

The opening match of Sunday evening sees two sides who have made bright starts over in the Eastern Conference battling it out when the New York Red Bulls take on the former champions Columbus Crew, who have started the campaign in the form which saw them win MLS Cup in 2020.

The Red Bulls opened with a couple of wins but they were found wanting against a determined Minnesota United side last weekend. Columbus Crew are undefeated with a couple of wins and a draw to their name and with Lucas Zelarayan back in excellent form they are going to be right in the deep end come the end of the season. This one should be an entertaining game but given that the Red Bulls create loads of chances but it is hit and miss whether they take them or not it is probably best to watch this one rather than put too much of your hard earned on it.

Austin FC vs Seattle Sounders (20.30 – Sky Football & Sky Mix)

The first of the televised matches on the evening comes from Texas where Austin FC will look to entertain their own fans once again when they take on the Seattle Sounders in a clash between two Western Conference sides.

Austin FC have played twice at home this season and they have won them both, scoring five in the process so they look like they have come out all guns blazing this term. They were beaten in Portland last week but that isn’t exactly a terrible result. The Sounders started their campaign with successive defeats but came good last time out when they saw off LA Galaxy in a great game. They have also progressed in the Champions League so they’ll be feeling good about themselves heading into this one. Goals were few and far between in this meeting last season but I think there is a much more attacking approach from Austin FC this term and as such I expect this one to ignite a lot easier. Both these teams have been involved in games with five goals in them this season and I expect this one to have more than half of that figure.

Los Angeles FC vs Vancouver Whitecaps (02.00 – Free Sports)

The final match of the night comes from California where Los Angeles FC will look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they host the Vancouver Whitecaps, who will be searching for a first win of the fledgling campaign.

LAFC have opened up their season with wins over the Colorado Rapids and Inter Miami and in between those they were held by the Portland Timbers whereas the Whitecaps have been walloped by the Columbus Crew and edged out by Houston Dynamo with a draw against the champions New York City FC lodged in between. Vancouver will need to keep tabs on Carlos Vela if they are going to have any chance here but you would have to suggest that they are going to be up against it in this match. The odds are fully reflective of that though and I’m in no rush to get stuck into huge handicaps at this stage of the season so I’m happy enough to leave this one alone.
