It might be the international weekend but the MLS 2023 season ploughs right through that, albeit with just the six matches on Saturday evening rather than the 14 there can be in a regular set of fixtures.
As ever this season, all six matches will be available to watch via the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV but for those who don’t subscribe all of them will be able to be viewed via the bookmakers who offer live streaming.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
New York City FC v Columbus Crew (20.30)
D.C. United v Real Salt Lake (00.30)
New England Revolution v Orlando City SC (00.30)
Nashville SC v St. Louis City SC (01.30)
Sporting Kansas City v Los Angeles Football Club (01.30)

Preview
We have a nice mix of matches over the course of the night with two all-Eastern Conference clashes, two mixed games and two from the Western Conference and those in action all have the chance to make a bit of a move. We begin in the east where New York City FC will look to turn their form around when they host Columbus Crew who will be without talisman Lucas Zelarayan while two form teams meet at Gillette Stadium when New England Revolution host Orlando City. DC United and Real Salt Lake are improving sides and they face each other at Audi Field.
The other three matches all involve sides in the west including the standout fixture on the evening which sees Nashville SC, second in the Eastern Conference, hosting the leaders of the west in St Louis City SC. The champions Los Angeles FC are in action once again when they make the trip to Missouri to take on Sporting Kansas City while the final match of the night comes from California where the San Jose Earthquakes will look to continue their positive campaign when they host the Portland Timbers.
Betting
Concerns are beginning to grow around Los Angeles FC at the minute and while a slump after the end of a Champions League campaign is nothing new, games are coming thick and fast and goals have seriously dried up. Those latter two factors are the big issues for me. They haven’t scored in the three matches since they lost the Champions League final and this match will be their sixth in June alone and this is only day 17 of it. That is a seriously heavy workload and a crack is inevitable, especially with them now missing players on international duty too.
Sporting Kansas City have gone about things the other way around to LAFC. They came out of the traps in a real slump but they have caught fire in the second half of the campaign to date and go into this one having won their last four on home soil, scoring 13 goals in the process with wins over competent sides in Portland, Dallas, Austin and Minnesota. LAFC looked like a side who just need a rest to me in midweek. The last thing they needed was to play the last 15 or so with 10 men and have a suspension on top of the international players they are missing. Sporting KC look to have a great chance of getting a positive result here.
