Big Matches

We have both of the Conference leaders on show on Saturday evening with FC Cincinnati looking to extend their lead in the race for the Supporters’ Shield when they play host to Charlotte FC. Over in the Western Conference, St Louis City SC will make the trip to Minnesota United looking to keep the chasing pack at bay. The other eye catching match on Saturday evening is the repeat of the MLS 2022 Cup Final between Philadelphia Union and Los Angeles FC where the home side will be out for a bit of revenge.

Best of the Rest

The race for the playoffs will be in focus for much of the remainder of the season and the matches between FC Dallas and Columbus Crew and Portland Timbers and Colorado Rapids are particularly key in the Western Conference, while over in the Eastern Conference DC United vs New York Red Bulls is a key game, as is Atlanta United against CF Montreal and Chicago Fire against the New England Revolution. Sporting Kansas City vs Houston Dynamo could be a fun game with the special Mexicans on show in that one.

Betting

It is a big night for the Portland Timbers who are suddenly charging towards a playoff spot after a season which took an absolute to get going. It needed a coaching change to get them going but they are one of the form teams in MLS and I expect that to continue on Saturday evening when they host a Colorado Rapids side whose season was done as a competitive entity a while back and who just stink the place out on their travels.

The Rapids have won just four out of 28 matches this term and have lost their last seven away from home and haven’t scored in any of their last five in that run. Portland are suddenly finding goals easy to come by. They have notched twice in every game since they changed head coach and if they bag two in this one then the results of Colorado so far would suggest they will have enough to cover a 1.25 goal Asian line. Things are not good for Colorado off the pitch and they’re no better on it. If Portland are going to push for the playoffs this should be a cosy home win.

Tips

Back Portland Timbers (-1.25AH) to beat Colorado Rapids for a 3/10 stake at 1.93 with Bet365
