For the second week in succession the Minnesota Vikings are involved in the Sunday Night Football, with their opponents this week being the much vaunted Green Bay Packers. With Chicago taking control of the division on Thursday, both need a win here in their quest for a wildcard spot.
These two sides have already met at Lambeau Field way back in week three and the match was an entertaining tie and heading into this one there may not be a whole lot to separate them here either.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings went into the season with plenty of expectations on their shoulders but in truth rarely have they lived up to them so far in this campaign. It is a bit of a mystery how they are only 5-4-1 for the season because they have a much better roster than that but they just don’t seem to be able to put enough complete performances together.
Their offense should be producing a lot more than it is. They have two of the best wide receivers in the game and a couple of very good running options as well and their defence is certainly not the worst even with their struggles with personnel in the secondary. If they are going to get anything out of their season they need to start winning the big games, beginning here.
Green Bay Packers
I guess it could be even more of a mystery that the Green Bay Packers are 4-5-1 for the season but in truth their performances have reflected their record. Even when they win a lot of the time they are made to work much harder than they would like and that is going to need to change if they are to put a spurt together to push for the postseason.
Given the injuries they have and the questionable trades they have put together you wonder whether the Packers truly believe they can make it beyond the regular season. They are going to need to win five of their last six to do that but they have had the mini-bye heading in here to reassess and come out fighting. Time will tell if they can do that.

Betting
It might be stretching it a little to suggests that seasons are on the line here given the unpredictable nature of sport in the modern world but I do think whoever loses this match will struggle to make the playoffs in the NFC this term so given that I’m expecting a high scoring match here with plenty of quality drives.
Much like in a knockout football match when a team scores it brings the other team out to play I expect the same sort of thing to happen in this match. The losing team is going to need to increase the urgency to get back into the game and maybe even take risks which bring defensive scores into play. However the points are scored I think this strong set of Vikings offensive players and a Green Bay side led by one of the best quarterbacks in the game can deliver more than 47.5pts.
