The Sunday Night Football this week should be an absolute cracker as form sides Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints meet in a repeat of the game dubbed the ‘Miracle in Minneapolis’ last season.
That comes from the amazing ending to the play-off match between the two last term which saw the Vikings move into the Championship match with the very last play of a game that looked lost. Revenge would be very sweet for the New Orleans Saints.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings were well touted to make it all the way to Atlanta this year for the Super Bowl. We are among the many who tipped them to go all the way and I must admit I was hoping for a smoother campaign than what we have seen from the side who lost in the NFC Championship game but they still bring a winning record into the match with them.
I think if they were honest they would have expected to see more from their defence than we have seen but on the flip side the offense led by Kirk Cousins has performed exactly how we thought it would do and that has been the case even without star running back Dalvin Cook for most of the matches. That offense is likely to need to perform well here to get them the win though.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints head to Minneapolis with a 5-2 record for the season but we should really recognise the fortune in which that record was achieved. Earlier in the campaign the Cleveland Browns kicker missed two game winning field goals before he was cut after New Orleans got home by a field goal and they would have been taken to overtime last week had Justin Tucker not missed a PAT for the first time in his career.
In and around that though they have played some excellent football especially on their offensive side of the ball. You would come to expect that with Drew Brees under center though. This will be another decent test to their credentials but they went up against the best defence in the NFL last week and came out on top so they should be confident.

Betting
I think this is a trappy match to bet on and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it goes down to the final drive. If I was pushed I would go with the defensive qualities of the Minnesota Vikings but I’m always wary of opposing top quality quarterbacks like Drew Brees so I’m going to leave the match outcome alone and take a player bet for the match.
Adam Thielen has caught for more than 100 yards in every match this season and given how many times Cousins targets him I expect him to fill his boots in this one too. He caught for more than 150 yards in the season opener between these two last year and given the form he is in at the minute a line of 103.5 looks like it can be covered.
