The final match of another exciting day of action in the National Football League sees the Sunday Night Football crew heading to the Arrowhead Stadium where the Kansas City Chiefs put their undefeated record on the line against the Indianapolis Colts.
These two were expected to be in the mix when the AFC Championship was handed out at the end of the campaign, hence why it has been chosen as the Sunday Night Football but the retirement to Andrew Luck has changed all that.
Kansas City Chiefs
In many ways the Kansas City Chiefs have picked up where they left off in the regular season last year. They have won their opening four matches of the campaign, each in relatively high scoring battles where their powerful offense has come to the party and their quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to look a million dollars. They lost out in the AFC Championship match last season in a humdinger of a contest and they’ll be itching to go a couple better here.
If they can just improve on defence the longer the season goes on then they will be entitled to be considered as a Super Bowl side. You would think they will need to touch up in that aspect of their game though because inevitably they will come up against a team who can stifle their attacking play at some point. For now though the Chiefs are looking awesome and it is just about continuing to win matches.
Indianapolis Colts
Given that they were rocked by that shock retirement of Andrew Luck right before the start of the season, the 2-2 record of the Indianapolis Colts probably isn’t too bad. In truth Jacoby Brissett hasn’t been all that bad and the rest of the roster, which we knew what of decent quality hence why they were so well-fancied under Luck, has performed to expectations in the main so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Colts around at the business end of the campaign.
The Colts were beaten somewhat surprisingly by the Oakland Raiders last week but that defeat doesn’t look quite so bad after their exploits at Tottenham already on Sunday. They need to be better in the key moments but you would like to think that will come at some point and then they’ll be a decent side. One or two injuries are just beginning to creep in and that could be a concern moving forward.
Betting
I’m expecting a high scoring match here. To be fair not many are going to ravage this Indianapolis Colts side but the Kansas City Chiefs certainly have the offensive power to do exactly that. I say that because they can kill you in the air, on the ground and with a mobile quarter back and I just don’t see how any side are going to contain the Chiefs on their own patch at the minute.
There is enough quality in the Colts’ offense to go well here. Marlon Mack is expected to play and teams have been able to pile up the yards running the ball on the Chiefs so his availability will be a key factor. Brissett has enough weapons for the score to build up on his side of the ledger so over 55.5pts is the way to attack this one.
