NFL 2019 – Week 12 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

Sunday sees another batch of matches in the NFL season being played out and with the playoff picture tightly bunched a number of sides will be involved in important games as we head towards the final quarter of the campaign.

We have 11 matches, two of which are on TV live in the UK, and the rest of which will have the main plays on the Red Zone coverage, with divisional clashes and eye catching encounters on a schedule which should offer plenty of entertainment.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The televised offering in this first set of the games on Sunday comes from the Lincoln Financial Field as the Philadelphia Eagles look to get their ledger above .500 when they host the Seattle Seahawks, who have an early opportunity to pile some pressure on the San Francisco 49ers. There are also three divisional clashes with the NFC South facing each other. The 3-7 Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers collide in one match while New Orleans Saints can all but tie up the division if they beat the Carolina Panthers. Pittsburgh Steelers also travel to the winless Cincinnati Bengals.

Two sides with losing records meet as the Washington Redskins take on a Detroit Lions missing their first choice quarterback Matt Stafford while the New York Jets host an Oakland Raiders side who are quietly on the up and chasing down the AFC West title while the Cleveland Browns welcome the Miami Dolphins to the ‘Dog Pound’. The other two matches see Chicago Bears hosting the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills taking on the Denver Broncos.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

There are only two matches in the later shift of games but there is a juiciness to both of them. The televised offering is the second one to get underway and sees two of the best teams in the league going at it when the New England Patriots look to continue their quest for the AFC number one seed when they go up against a Dallas Cowboys team who need to keep winning to stay on top in the NFC East, from where only the winners are likely to progress to the postseason. The Tennessee Titans host the Jacksonville Jaguars in the latest clash in the AFC South in the one match away from the TV on this side of the pond.

Betting

There are three bets for us in these matches with the first of them coming over in Chicago when I’m taking on a stuttering, floundering Chicago Bears with the New York Giants. The Giants are in receipt of six points here which with the way the Bears offense has gone this season I think this is a little big. Admittedly they go up against a poor Giants defence but I’m still not sure the Bears are playing well enough on offense to take advantage and although he has been poor this year the injury to Mitch Trubisky could be a disruption. Todd Gurley gashed the Bears last week so I fancy Saquon Barkley to do the same here. Giants can stay within six here.

I’m a little surprised that the Tennessee Titans are only giving up 3.5pts against a Jacksonville Jaguars side who go into this match off two heavy beatings by AFC South rivals and could be ripe for a third one. The Jaguars defence has been ripped apart by the run in the last couple of weeks and Derrick Henry goes into this game off the back of a monster performance last week. The Titans showed their abilities with the win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week and if they are at anything close to that level in this match then I expect them to be a lot more than 3.5pts too good for a bumbling Jaguars team.

In the big match of the evening I believe the Dallas Cowboys are being disrespected just a little for their trip to the New England Patriots. The Cowboys are getting a 5.5pt start and although they are going up against a stellar defence, the Dallas outfit have the balance and the tools on offense to stay close to their opponents, if not surprise them. The Patriots offense has improved since Sanu arrived but I still don’t think it is firing on all cylinders and the Cowboys’ seventh ranked defence can certainly keep them honest. This feels like a closer match than the lines suggest to me.
