The second part of the double header on the Monday Night Football sees two NFC offensive powerhouses going at it when the Green Bay Packers welcome the Atlanta Falcons to Lambeau Field in what should be a typical Monday shootout.
The Packers go into the match 3-0 for the season while the Falcons are 0-3 but have held substantial leads in their last two outings. That leaves plenty on the line for both in what should be a cracker of a contest.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers go into the match 3-0 for the season and after the defeat for the Chicago Bears on Sunday, they can take complete control of the NFC North with a win in this one to take them to 4-0 for the campaign ahead of their bye week. The main reason for the Packers’ start to the season is the outstanding form of Aaron Rodgers, a player who has dominated all three matches despite being without some key weapons on the offense.
While Rodgers has been going well running back Aaron Jones is in the middle of a great season too and the pair when combined form a very strong offense, one which has put up more than 120pts in their three matches. In an ideal world they would be better defensively than they have shown but they are not the only side in the league who are finding it tough on defence. This is going to be a high scoring league this season and the Packers have got it right so far.

Atlanta Falcons
Apart from the results the Atlanta Falcons are performing much the same as the Packers in a lot of ways. Their offensive numbers are very good and that is no surprise when you look at who they have on their roster on that side of the ball. Where they have let themselves down though has been on defence and while some slack has to be given to defences around the league, the Falcons’ D has been particularly bad and nowhere near good enough.
Looking from afar it appears that the Falcons have forgotten how to win. That isn’t necessarily a surprise when they have gone through the sort of barren run in terms of victories that they have recently. They urgently need to remember how to win not just to make something of this season but to save the job of their head coach Dan Quinn. It will be interesting to see how they go in this one if they get in front after burning two huge leads in recent weeks, something that goes back to the Super Bowl of a few years ago.
Betting
Sometimes matches are billed to be high scoring shootouts but then fall flat on their face and end up being damp squibs but I just don’t see how this one can fall that way. Both these offenses are really delivering the goods and while it would be better if Green Bay had Davante Adams available I don’t think it is going to halt the point scoring too much. Ultimately we have two offenses full of power and form and two defences that have failed to warm to the task to date.
There appears to be a mental block in this Atlanta Falcons side especially when they build up a big lead and there is a chance that could happen again here. I can’t see how both offenses don’t dominate this one so the 55.5 point line that is on show for this match looks a bit on the low side to me. Green Bay are averaging more than 40 points a match this season and the Falcons aren’t a million miles behind. The over looks a huge runner here.
