Once again the NFL Sunday will end with the Sunday Night Football which this week comes from the Superdome as the New Orleans Saints host the Green Bay Packers in what could very well be the NFC Championship match later in the season.
The Packers go into the match in top form and are 2-0 for their season while the Saints are 1-1 so will be eager to take advantage of another home match in order to keep themselves on top of the NFC South.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints started the season very well when they turned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over in week one but things were a little sour last week when they were unable to handle the Las Vegas Raiders so they go into this match needing to pick themselves up a little and will have had one less day to do it in having been to Nevada for the Monday Night Football. That might not be a huge disadvantage but it could be significant.
The thing that was exposed in Las Vegas was the potential struggles for their offense while key receiver Michael Thomas is injured. Without him Drew Brees is suddenly looking old and there is a real emphasis on the running game to help him out as he seems reluctant to send the ball down the field. The positive is that in the main their defence is playing good ball, especially against the run which is likely to be significant in this match.

Green Bay Packers
It has been the perfect start to the season for the Green Bay Packers with Aaron Rodgers beginning to look back to his best and the rest of the side coming on the ride with him. The Packers go into this match 2-0 for the season but there is a suggestion that they have had a nice schedule, something they will be looking to put to bed here. They have beaten Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions so far to take the early lead in the NFC North.
The Packers are currently the best rushing side in the game according to the statistics and that is something they will look to take advantage of here in order to keep this dangerous Saints offense off the field. They will also look to their own defence to stifle that offense and if they can cover the run and the short passes and force Brees to go down the field they might well find they come away from the Dome with the win.
Betting
I thought there was more than just a chink exposed in the armour of the New Orleans Saints last week and although they are on the road and the Raiders were at home, if anyone is going to exploit a weakness it is Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers side. The Saints offense looked a little toothless without Thomas last week, especially if the running game can be contained, and I wonder if New Orleans will be able to keep pace with Green Bay should that not change.
We know that should he need to then Rodgers is perfectly capable of finding receivers at will, and while it would be better if Davante Adams was fit I still think he has enough in his ranks to get the job done, particularly in light of how often the Packers are going to look to run the ball. New Orleans need to get on top early or scare the Packers with some early deep passes but assuming that doesn’t happen I think the visitors are a big price for the win here.
