NFL 2020 – Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears Tips and Betting Preview

Week 10 of the NFL season concludes with the Monday Night Football which this week sees the action head to Soldier Field for a pretty important NFC North battle between the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings.

The Bears carry the better record into the match with them but it is the Vikings who are in the better form so it will be interesting to see how this one plays out as neither can afford to lose with the Green Bay Packers flying at the top of the division.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears were on fire earlier in the campaign when they won five of their opening six matches but they have lost their last three and look to be going in the wrong direction. To be fair to them those three losses have come against extremely competent opponents but it hasn’t been that they have lost those matches, it has been how they have done it. They have been disappointing and have looked extremely limited offensively which would be a concern.

The really strange part of the Bears season is that although they weren’t lighting up any trees, they were undefeated under Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback. Since Nick Foles has replaced him they have barely won a match. It has to be said that Foles is working with limited productivity from the offense and the fact that they have been unable to get any sort of a run game going certainly hasn’t helped. The positive is that their defence has looked good in the main.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have done things the other way around to their opponents here. They started the season very slowly indeed but have come good in the last few weeks. The reason for their success has been pretty obvious with the running ability of Dalvin Cook coming to the fore. To be fair to the Vikings, although they lost five of their first six matches, four of them came against sides who will be expected to be involved in the play-offs later in the season so they have had a tough schedule.

The Minnesota defence has had to stand up and be counted in recent weeks and it has been although that is probably a combination of being able to get good rest while Cook does his thing as well as an ease in their schedule. This match is always competitive and hard fought so they will be looking for their defence to be at the top of its game, even though the opposition doesn’t carry much in the way of an offensive threat.

Betting

It is hard to go against the Minnesota Vikings here. I say that because they look to have their offense firing on all cylinders now and their defence is reaping the benefits of that as a result. The same can’t be said of the Chicago Bears though. Their defence has gone well so far this season but the longer they are on the field the chances are they are going to break down eventually and a powerful rusher like Dalvin Cook can certainly speed up that process.

The Vikings are only being asked to cover a field goal in this match which looks an attractive punt because you feel there are a lot more points in their offense than a Bears one that wasn’t going very well to begin with and isn’t likely to be helped any by the injury to David Montgomery. You get the feeling this match is in the hands of the Vikings and Cook in particular. Between him, Kick Cousins and the Minnesota defence they can lead their side to a victory by more than three points.
