The Championship games in the NFL get finalised on Sunday when the last two Divisional Round matches are played out. The action starts in the AFC where the reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs host the Cleveland Browns for the right to take on the Buffalo Bills next week.
The Chiefs go into this match knowing that they will host the Bills if they find the win in this one while the Browns will have to stay on the road if they can extend their season by getting a victory at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kansas City Chiefs
There was always the impression that the Kansas City Chiefs could go on and dominate for a while but you never truly know when a team ends such a lengthy period without success how they will react to it. The Chiefs have been brilliant. They finished the regular season with a 14-2 record and in truth it is harsh to hold the second defeat against them because it came in the final week of the campaign when they rested a number of their important players.
That opens up a slight concern at how they will go after effectively three weeks without a competitive hit but they are such a fluent and vibrant side that even then that is only a really tiny doubt. Another question mark could be that many of their wins this season have been pretty tight and by low margins. You don’t really want to be playing with percentages in the playoffs. That said they have the best offense in the league and a defence that has enough plays in it.

Cleveland Browns
Having gone so long without making the playoffs the Cleveland Browns are clearly in no mood to end their season now. They went into last week with questions over how they would handle the intensified pressure that comes with this time of a year but within 10 minutes of their match against the Pittsburgh Steelers we had the answer to that issue as they raced into a 28-0 lead and they were never going to lose from that position.
Cleveland have been very entertaining to watch this season, winning a number of high scoring battled and at no stage this year have they taken a backward step. When you consider the Covid-19 issues they were battling last week which look to have resolved themselves now, there could well be even more to come from them. Baker Mayfield looks in perfect harmony with this offense right now and there are enough playmakers on defence to keep them in games. They’re a live chance of the upset here.
Betting
This had the billing of being the match of the weekend and hopefully it lives up to all expectations. It is difficult to see it not turning into something of a shootout too because these two offenses are not only powerful and potent but they have good variety in them. The other reason is that although the two defences can make plays they are unquestionably weaker in standard than the offenses that they go up against here.
Matches that these two teams have been involved in this season have all been high scoring and with the win or bust nature of this match it is hard to see how this one doesn’t explode into life early and stay that way. The point line for this match is 56.5 which feels high for a match of this magnitude but both sides are likely to score close to 28 points if they play well so with a few on top of that the over shouldn’t have much trouble in covering.
