NFL 2020 – Week 13 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

Despite Covid-19 continuing to cause havoc to the schedule and the 32 teams, Week 13 of the NFL season gets underway on Sunday with the usual two early kick off slots on a day where the play-off picture is likely to get a whole lot clearer once again.

As ever with the early Sunday matches we have a couple of live games to enjoy in full on TV over here in the UK, while there is the wonderful RedZone programme for updates on all the other games or you can watch them on some of the bookmaker streaming services.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

Two 8-3 sides meet in the first of the two TV games on Sunday when the play-off picture in the AFC will get a little clearer. The Tennessee Titans now control the AFC South and they will remain in possession of their own destiny if they can see off the Cleveland Browns, who are probably aiming for a wildcard spot now with Pittsburgh Steelers looking unstoppable at the minute. There are also three divisional clashes in this kick off slot with the Houston Texans hosting the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South, Chicago Bears taking on the Detroit Lions in the NFC North and Atlanta Falcons taking on the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South.

There are three other matches in this first of the two kick off slots. The useless New York Jets are involved in one of them when the winless side play host to the Las Vegas Raiders who need to start winning if their season is going to get extended. The Jacksonville Jaguars know their season is done from a competitive standpoint but they can put a spanner in the works of the Minnesota Vikings when the two sides meet on Sunday. The other match sees the Miami Dolphins going up against the Cincinnati Bengals.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

There are four matches in the later of the two kick off slots on Sunday and the TV match looks a very tasty clash in the NFC West as the Arizona Cardinals host the Los Angeles Rams in a match neither team can afford to lose as they plot to chase down the Seattle Seahawks in the division. Whoever loses this match may well be condemned to focusing on the fight for a wildcard berth which is by no means guaranteed.

There are three other matches in the later of the two slots with the aforementioned Seattle Seahawks in action in one of them when they take on the New York Giants. The Green Bay Packers can continue their surge towards the NFC North title, which is already in the palm of their hands, when they welcome the Philadelphia Eagles to Lambeau Field. The other match sees the Los Angeles Chargers going up against the New England Patriots.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of road teams over the course of the evening. The first one is the Indianapolis Colts who need to bounce back when they travel to take on the Houston Texans. The Texans have been going ok recently because of the exceptional qualities of quarterback DeShaun Watson but he has lost arguably his most important offensive option in Will Fuller Jr and that has to be a blow against a Colts defence that might have been gashed by Derrick Henry last week but which is generally as tough as teak. Indianapolis have a pretty good record against Houston and if they are to stay relevant in the race for the AFC South title then need to maintain that here. I’ll take them to win and cover a field goal.

The Los Angeles Chargers have got a lot of plaudits this season but they haven’t won many matches and I’m not convinced they are going to get a lot of joy out of the New England Patriots who have suddenly found a combination and a style that has allowed them to put some wins together. The Patriots were just pottering along until last week when they took care of the Arizona Cardinals in what was a standout victory. While that was going on the Chargers were taking on some questionable choices in their defeat to the Buffalo Bills. Ultimately for all their good play this season the last two teams the Chargers have beaten this term have one win between them in this campaign. I don’t think they should be favourites against a Patriots side who are finding their feet at long last.
