The final match of Week 3 of the NFL 2022 season comes along in the Monday Night Football where NFC East rivals New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys go at it inside the MetLife Stadium in what is sure to be a competitive encounter as ever between these two rivals.
The Giants go into the match unbeaten for their season so far while the Cowboys have a win and a loss on their record. The Philadelphia Eagles lead the way in the NFC East so these two will know dropping this game isn’t an option.
New York Giants
The New York Giants have won their opening two matches and have a platform to build on but given the fierceness of this rivalry they will probably mean little if they drop this game. I think it is fair to say that the two wins haven’t exactly set the pulses racing but you can never criticise a team for winning, particularly one that has struggled in recent times. With players still coming back from injury and cohesiveness being strengthened there should still be more to come from the Big Blue.
The positive for the Giants has been their defence. They have restricted the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers to just 36 points and get two key new members of their pass rush back for this match so you would imagine that side of the ball will be even stronger. Offensively they are still a work in progress but with Saquon Barkley fit they have a stud if they can get him in the game. Daniel Jones is a safe option at quarterback.

Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys opened up their season with a loss to the Tampa Bay Bucaneers but then rebounded with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals last week. You couldn’t say they were convincing in that win but when you consider they were without their main quarterback Dak Prescott, as they are expected to be here too, then any win was a welcome one. Cooper Rush was the man who led the Cowboys to victory and he’ll probably have to do so again here.
I think it is fair to accept the Dallas offense stuttering a little under the backup trigger man but the one area where they are not struggling is getting to the quarterback. Micah Parsons is a defensive stud and he has support in the pass rush but if there is a defensive concern then it comes in the form of their secondary which has leaked a few catches this season. They will need their run defence to come to the party in this one.
Betting
We saw a tight Sunday Night Football and I’m not expecting anything different here although it has to be said the Dallas Cowboys have a real stranglehold on the recent meetings between these two sides having won nine of their last 10 matches against each other. Most of those have been with Prescott under center though and they won’t have him here which might bring the New York Giants more into the game.
Neither of the offenses here have really caught fire but there is the potential in both of them which restricts me from taking the under which would seem the logical play so I’m going to go for another side market which comes in the form of the sacks where the line is only 4.5. Daniel Jones has been sacked eight times in the two matches this season and now comes face to face with Micah Parsons but the Giants get pass rushers Azeez Ojulari and Kayvon Thibodeaux back for this match and they go up against inexperienced offensive tackles so they might well find getting to Cooper Rush an easy enough task. That leads me to think over 4.5 sacks will land here.
