The penultimate week of NFL 2022 regular season action continues in the usual two kick off slots on Sunday on a day where so much is at stake for so many teams so we should be treated to some dramatic action.
As with any other Sunday in the league we have two matches being shown live and in full on TV in the UK to enjoy. The Red Zone coverage will also be available and various bookmakers also show these matches.
1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)
The televised match in the first slot of games in the UK is the AFC East clash between the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins which could scarcely be bigger for the two teams when they collide at Gillette Stadium. The Dolphins know if they win they will end the Patriots’ season so the home side have to win this game to keep their wildcard hopes alive. There are eight other matches taking place in this early slot with four of them divisional battles, the biggest of which comes in the NFC South where the current leaders Tampa Bay Buccaneers host a Carolina Panthers side who will be right on their heels with a win. Detroit Lions host the Chicago Bears knowing they need to win if they are going to stay on track for the playoffs while the Jacksonville Jaguars will look to keep their form ahead of the do or die clash with Tennessee Titans next week when they visit the Houston Texans. Kansas City Chiefs host the Denver Broncos in the other game.
There is still plenty to play for elsewhere in the early games on Sunday with the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants looking to take a step closer to sealing an NFC wildcard berth. Both have winnable home matches to come through. The Giants welcome the Indianapolis Colts to MetLife Stadium while the Commanders will go up against a Cleveland Browns side who are just playing out time on their season after a tough time of it. The other matches sees the Atlanta Falcons meeting the Arizona Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles looking to sew up the NFC East and the number one seed when they host the New Orleans Saints.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)
The later set of matches sees four games taking place and the televised action in the UK comes from Lambeau Field where the Green Bay Packers will hope to keep their season alive when they welcome a Minnesota Vikings team who have already won the NFC North to Wisconsin. The Packers are still pushing hard for a wildcard spot but need to win out and hope for help elsewhere. The Vikings want a high seeding for the playoffs so there is more than enough on this one.
Three other matches take place in the late slot. The battle of the two Los Angeles teams was meant to be the Sunday Night Football but it has been flexed out of that position and instead the Chargers will host the Rams in the late slot. Elsewhere, the San Francisco 49ers will look to continue their march towards big things in the playoffs when they travel to the Las Vegas Raiders who have made the decision to bench Derek Carr from here on in. New York Jets will hope to keep their playoff hopes alive in the other game. They travel to the Seattle Seahawks.
Betting
I’ll go with the one bet over the course of the night where the Minnesota Vikings are getting a 3.5 point start away to the Green Bay Packers which is quite interesting when you consider that the Vikings have won five more matches this season including a 23-7 win over the Packers earlier in the campaign. The one thing we know about Minnesota is they have a powerful and balanced offense which could well feast on a Packers defence which gives up a lot of passing yards even if they are not always converted into points.
I think the primary concern for the Packers is to win this match not run up a score or anything and I suspect they will look to use their running backs as much as possible but the Vikings are solid enough against the run. Importantly given that Green Bay will be looking to control the clock, the Vikings can score quickly through the likes of Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen but they too can manage the clock with Dalvin Cook. I’m not sure that Minnesota will win the match but they will be playing this at full pelt as they won’t want Green Bay to be hanging around this season. I’ll back them to stay within a field goal which all Minnesota matches these days seem to do.
