NFL 2022 – Week 2 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

The second week of the NFL season started in an entertaining fashion on Thursday night and it continues with another exciting schedule of matches across the regular start times in another busy Sunday in the league.

As with any other NFL Sunday we have two kick off slots and us in the UK have two matches to enjoy in their entirety on the TV while there is also the Red Zone coverage and certain bookmakers are also streaming the matches.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The televised match in the opening kick off slot on Sunday comes from the NFC South where the New Orleans Saints will go up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game which could determine the course of the divisional path this season. There is just the one other divisional clash first up on Sunday and that comes from the AFC South where the Jacksonville Jaguars go up against the Indianapolis Colts in an early guide setter for that division.

Surprisingly, even this early in the season there are only two sides with 1-0 records going against each other in this early slot on Sunday. That sees the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Miami Dolphins. Four other matches take place at this time. Cleveland Browns host the New York Jets in one while the Washington Commanders welcome the Detroit Lions in another. The New York Giants meet the Carolina Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers welcome the New England Patriots.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

The TV game in the second slot of matches across the evening takes us to Levi’s Stadium for the NFC West clash between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks with the visitors the only one in the division to win last week. That means they’ll be looking to maintain their early control on it here. San Francisco will be looking to bounce back from what they will have considered a pretty tame loss a week ago.

Four other matches take place in this time zone but none of them are divisional battles. Incredibly they are all games between sides who failed to win last week too. The Los Angeles Rams lost to Buffalo Bills but will look to bounce back when they host the Atlanta Falcons while the Dallas Cowboys take on the Cincinnati Bengals. Denver Broncos messed up the Monday Night Football and will look to prove themselves against the Houston Texans while the Las Vegas Raiders meet the Arizona Cardinals.

Betting

We are in the week of the season where we always get an overreaction in lines and prices based on the opening week and I’m always wary of betting in that situation. It is really important to stick to our guns and back our hunches from before the season began, while at the same time using what we found out from last week to our advantage. There isn’t a huge amount that stands out to me among the odds and lines of the matches but one player bet does jump out at me.

That comes in the form of the rushing yards line for Saquon Barkley who ran all over the Tennessee Titans last week and who can go down a similar path against the Carolina Panthers who coughed up a pretty incredible 217 rushing yards in 39 attempts last week. Barkley rushed for 164 yards last week and with Kadarius Toney a doubt for this match you would imagine the Big Blue will sit on their star rushing back and ride him to victory. He has a rushing yards line of 75.5 yards which looks a little on the low side to me.
