NFL 2023 – Week 4 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

Once the action has finished in London the majority of Week 4 of the NFL 2023 season will be played out in the regular Sunday slots on a day where teams will look to either strengthen a strong start to the year or recover a poor one.

Despite the London game being on TV we still have the usual coverage of these matches with two of them being live in full on TV and then there is the RedZone programme to show the best bits of the others. Bookmakers also have the non-TV games on their streaming consoles.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The focus is on the AFC East in the first of the two TV matches in the UK on Sunday as the Buffalo Bills take on the Miami Dolphins in one of the two games which could define who wins the division at the end of the season. With the Dolphins 3-0 for the season Buffalo will know losing and being 2-2 against a 4-0 side is not going to be helpful. That leaves us with eight other matches and three of those are divisional clashes where in the AFC North the Cleveland Browns host the Baltimore Ravens while in the NFC South the undefeated New Orleans Saints welcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Superdome. The NFC East clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders is the other one.

The other six matches include the Carolina Panthers hosting the Minnesota Vikings while two teams who have struggled so far this season meet at Soldier Field where the Chicago Bears host the Denver Broncos. Houston Texans picked up an emphatic win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week and they will look to back that up when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers while the Indianapolis Colts take on the Los Angeles Rams. The other game sees the Tennessee Titans taking on a Cincinnati Bengals for whom the pressure is really on.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

There are just three matches in the later slot of games on Sunday and we have an intriguing TV table to look forward to as the Dallas Cowboys look to bounce back from their defeat to the Arizona Cardinals last week when they play host to a New England Patriots who took advantage of the struggles of the New York Jets last week to pick up their first win of the season but who might need more if they are to level their ledger at 2-2.

There are two other games on show on Sunday and they are both divisional battles where the San Francisco 49ers will look to continue their extremely strong start to the season when they take on their NFC West rivals Arizona Cardinals, who themselves had a good win last week. The other match comes from Hollywood where the Los Angeles Chargers take on the Las Vegas Raiders in what feels like a key match for both given that the Kansas City Chiefs have found their feet again.

Betting

There really isn’t a huge amount that I like in these games on Sunday. My main fancies for the week came on Thursday night and in the London match but I do like one later in the piece when the Los Angeles Chargers take on the Las Vegas Raiders where while I wouldn’t want to trust the Chargers explicitly in light of the injury to Mike Williams but we can use that to our advantage by taking a different bet on the match.

That comes in the form of the receiving yards of Joshua Palmer. He has been residing in the position of the number three receiver for the Bolts but with Williams now done for the season he is likely to be elevated in responsibility and most importantly in action. We know that Justin Herbert likes to throw the ball and while Keenan Allen will be targeted regularly, we should see Palmer being looked at more often and as a result of that 42.5 receiving yards feels an achievable line for the man who is now WR2.
