Week 12 of the NFL 2024 season concludes with the Monday Night Football as two brothers go at it when Jim Harbaugh leads his Los Angeles Chargers side into battle against the Baltimore Ravens who are coached by John Harbaugh.
The two brothers have met on two previous occasions and it has been John Harbaugh and his Baltimore Ravens who have won both times and he’ll be looking to make it a hat trick of wins while his brother will be hoping to get on the board himself.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers head into the match with a 7-3 record for the year, which ordinarily would be looking very good were it not for the 10-1 Kansas City Chiefs being in their division. As it is that makes this a big game for the Bolts because they are likely to need to keep winning to secure a wildcard match and certainly have to if they want to take the AFC West title race deeper into the season. This is a match that they can’t really afford to lose.
The Chargers have won their last four matches and have put up at least 26 points in each of those wins so a team that was struggling offensively in the opening part of the season have come alive in that run. It probably wasn’t necessarily a bad thing that they struggled offensively earlier in the campaign because it was obvious that Jim Harbaugh was trying to install his defensive principles on his new team. The Bolts now look a well-rounded team.

Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are slightly worse off than the Chargers. They are 7-4 for the season but they have seen the Pittsburgh Steelers lose this week already which gives them the chance to level their eight wins for the year, although they would remain a little below their rivals heading into the final third of the regular season. It would also allow them to put the disappointment of that defeat to Pittsburgh last week behind them a little.
The Ravens have one of the better offenses in the game right now with Derrick Henry in particular causing havoc for opposing defences but Lamar Jackson is also a very live MVP candidate and the Ravens are capable of winning a shootout with anyone. Often they are drawn into them because their defence, especially their passing defence, has been torn apart from pretty much every team that they have come up against and if they don’t go deep into the postseason that will be the reason why.
Betting
I think we are in for a high scoring Monday Night Football between two teams who have offenses which can pile up the points fairly quickly. They take on defences who are made to suit the way that they want to attack as well so it would be something of a surprise if this one doesn’t turn into a bit of a shootout at some point in the evening, not least when you put in the competitive nature of the game and neither coach wanting to lose to the other.
You can get 1.80 on over 49.5 points in this match and when you think that Justin Herbert could have his wicked way with this Baltimore Ravens defence in the passing game and Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson could run all over the Los Angeles Chargers run defence that doesn’t look a particularly high total. Los Angeles were involved in a bit of a shootout last week while Baltimore have had a number of high scoring games and this can be another.
