The middle match of the three in the NFL 2024 Playoffs on Sunday evening takes us to the NFC for the first time in this wildcard weekend as the number two seed Philadelphia Eagles host the number seven seed in the Green Bay Packers.
Both of these sides have had excellent seasons but such is the way their franchises are run both will probably feel it becomes one of disappointment were they to lose this one so that should ensure a very competitive tussle.
Philadelphia Eagles
There were one or two doubts about the Philadelphia Eagles going into the season after the retirement of players like Jason Kelce but we need not have worried because they cruised through to the playoffs and then rubber stamped their position in them when they won the NFC East title for the second season in succession. The question now is whether their excellent home form will stay in place for one more match to get them over the line here.
There were doubts over Jalen Hurts going into this match but he has been passed fit to play and that will be huge as he and Saquon Barkley have been in excellent form in recent times. With the Philadelphia defence improving the longer the season has gone on the Eagles will be confident that they can get the job done here. They certainly have the profile that is required to go well in the playoffs and should be tough to beat.

Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers have made it through to the postseason for the second year in succession. In many years they would have got in via winning their division having put together a campaign with 11 wins but that was only good enough for third place this time around such has been the strength of the NFC North this term. It does show that the Packers are legitimately one of the best in the Conference but you just wonder whether they will pay the price of losing to the Chicago Bears late on last week which denied them the number six seed and a trip to Tampa Bay.
That loss nearly came at the price of their quarterback Jordan Love who was injured last week but he has recovered from whatever the problem was in time to feature in this match. It did come at the cost of Christian Walton though who has been ruled out of this one because of an injury he picked up in that match. That is a blow to the Packers, although you would think if they are to win this one it would be through their defence and their running game.
Betting
This one had the potential to be one of the lower scoring games in the wildcard round when it was announced but when you add into the mix that Green Bay Packers are going to be without their star receiver Christian Walton and both quarterbacks are carrying knocks into the match, the under becomes even more of a thing, especially when you consider that the line is up at 47.5 which feels high even allowing for the fact that these two played in week one and it ended 34-29.
That was the first time the NFL had gone into Brazil though and the emphasis was on showcasing the game and big plays and everything else. Since then though these two sides have improved to be two of the best defensive sides in the league and they are both built on run first offenses so the clock is likely to be running for long periods of this one. This has the potential to turn into a real grind with field goals being a valuable commodity. I like the under here.
