Nitto ATP World Tour Finals Tennis 2022 – Singles and Doubles Finals Tips and Betting Preview

It is the final day of the season on the ATP Tour when the singles and doubles finals are played out at the ATP World Tour Finals in Turin on what should be a sensational Sunday of tennis action out in Turin.

Two of the best doubles pairings in the world have made it through to the final while two men who have competed in three Grand Slam finals over the course of 2022 will battle it out in the singles final so the day is nicely setup.

Rajeev Ram & Joe Salisbury vs Nikola Mektic & Mate Pavic

The doubles final sees the number two seeds Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury looking to get their hands on the season ending final for the first time when they take on the Croatian pair of Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic, who were the best pair in the world last year.

That immediately shows the quality we can expect in this final and the beauty of this match is that we have two undefeated pairings this week battling it out for the title so we know that whoever wins will fully deserve the crown. I think it is fair to say that Ram and Salisbury have looked a little more assured and impressive this week but I think the Croatian duo had the tougher group to come through so that needs to be factored into the equation as well. Bookmakers can’t split these and that is understandable. These two teams haven’t met this season but they did meet six times last year with Mektic and Pavic winning the first four before going down in a match tiebreak in the last two. That suggests if a team has the edge it is them so I’ll side with them to get their hands on this crown.

Casper Ruud vs Novak Djokovic

The final match of the ATP Tour season will see Casper Ruud looking to go one better than he did at the French Open and the US Open when he takes on a Novak Djokovic who will be looking to add the last title of the season to his Wimbledon crown.

Djokovic has been exceptional this week but he has been pushed fairly close in the last couple of matches and this will be a third day in succession that he is taking to the court so Ruud will be hoping that there is a chink in the armour of the Serb as a result of that. There is a case to be made that Ruud has played some of the best tennis of the week, particularly in his semi-final win over Andrey Rublev where for the first 15 games or so he was exceptional so he is entitled to feel that he can be competitive at the very least here. The problem Ruud has is he trails 3-0 in their past meetings and hasn’t won a set in those encounters but you do have to go back seven years for the last time Djokovic got his hands on this title and he has lost two finals since then so he isn’t infallible in this tournament. I hope Ruud can raise his game and pinch the title here as I’m on him at 16/1 having backed him outright. As he has already landed the place money I’m happy to let that bet ride and hope the Norwegian can pull off the upset.
