PDC World Darts Championship 2025 – Quarter 3 Tips and Betting Preview

The PDC World Darts Championship gets underway on Sunday evening but before the off we still have enough time to have a look at the remaining quarter markets. We’ve looked at the top half and now we are onto the third quarter.

This is where Michael Smith will be under a lot of pressure to get the job done because he is defending his 500,000 ranking points from winning this tournament two years ago so he needs a big run. This looks a wide open quarter.

Draw

(2) Michael Smith v Kevin Doets/Noa-Lynn van Leuven
(31) Krzysztof Ratajski v Richard Veenstra/Alexis Toylo
(15) Chris Dobey v Stephen Burton/Alexander Merkx
(18) Josh Rock v Karel Sedlacek/Rhys Griffin

(7) Jonny Clayton v Mickey Mansell/Tomoya Goto
(26) Daryl Gurney v Florian Hempel/Jeffrey De Zwaan
(10) Gerwyn Price v Kim Huybrechts/Keane Barry
(23) Joe Cullen v Wessel Nijman/Cameron Carolissen

Preview

There is a case to be made that this is the most open quarter of the draw and certainly that would feel like being true in the red section. Michael Smith is the leading light here but he is under huge pressure to have a good tournament as he is defending the £500,000 he won for winning this event two years ago. That will be of interest to the other three seeds in this section in Krzysztof Ratajski, Chris Dobey and Josh Rock while qualifiers such as Kevin Doets and Richard Veenstra will want a say too.

The green section looks equally as open with Jonny Clayton another leading seed who offers little in the way of form coming into the event. You can say the same about Gerwyn Price but he has a better record in this tournament than most in this entire quarter let along the green section. Joe Cullen and Daryl Gurney are the other seeds and their form isn’t watertight either. Wessel Nijman would have been seen as a dark horse in other quarters but that cat is out of the bag and that is a dynamic which will be interesting. Kim Huybrechts and Florian Hempel have gone well here before.

Betting

I’m already on Gerwyn Price to win the tournament and while I have to admit that I am tempted to take the 6/1 on him winning this quarter, I’m happy to let my outright run because I’m on to four places so I would be on him at a bigger price to win the quarter final courtesy of that outright bet anyway. The red section is an interesting one though and you could make a case for a number of players to reach the quarter final.

I like Chris Dobey. He made the quarter final here last year and has probably had the best year of anyone in this quarter. There is certainly a case to be made for Kevin Doets potentially beating Michael Smith and opening this section right up for Dobey. Dobey scores well and generally hits his doubles nicely and has a record in this tournament which is decent enough for a player who has never arrived here as a top eight seed. He has made the fourth round or better in five of the last six years which includes getting to the quarter finals in the last two years. Those three fourth round losses were all in deciding sets too so he could have landed this bet in five of the last six years. At 9/4 he looks a great price to reach the last eight where hopefully he loses to Gerwyn Price.
