Premier League 2021-22 – Saturday 18th September Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues on Saturday when another six fixtures take place in the top flight on a day where once again we see a few of the leading challengers in action in the traditional slot, which rarely used to be the case.

Two of the six matches will be available to watch on the two TV channels which cover the league and then there are the various score update programmes and the social media feeds to keep up with all the other games.

Early Kick Off

The early game on Saturday afternoon comes from Molineux where Wolverhampton Wanderers play host to the new boys Brentford in an interesting game. Both sides probably have a better defensive structure than an attacking output but at the same time both teams have dangerous players in their ranks who could strike at any moment so this might be quite a technical and tactical affair to get the action underway.

3pm Matches

The last two champions are on show in the traditional 3pm slot on Saturday afternoon. Manchester City will look to follow up their eventful Champions League win when they play host to a Southampton side who might just be there for the taking should City be in the right shape to do so. Liverpool are also at home and looking to kick on from a win in the Champions League in midweek. They welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield in what might be an entertaining match.

Arsenal finally got off the mark for wins last week and they’ll be looking for a back-to-back success when they make the trip few liking making to Turf Moor. Burnley aren’t quite as dangerous hosts as they used to be though which will give Arsenal a little bit of confidence. The other match feels like a huge clash down the bottom of the table as Norwich City host Watford in a battle of the top two from the Championship last term.

Betting

There isn’t a huge amount that I like over the course of the afternoon but I do fancy an entertaining game where Liverpool take on Crystal Palace at Anfield. Matches between these two were fairly high scoring even when Roy Hodgson was in charge of Palace so I see no reason why they won’t be here unless there isn’t a lot left in the Liverpool tank. This early in the season that shouldn’t be the case though so I’m expecting plenty of goal action here.

Liverpool are quite capable of covering a 3.25 goal line on their own in this match but Palace have shown signs of life in an attacking sense under Patrick Vieira and if Liverpool are a bit tired they could easily trouble the scorer too, especially with Wilfried Zaha going at Trent Alexander-Arnold. Palace couldn’t contain Liverpool when the defensively astute Hodgson was in charge so I don’t expect them to do it here either. Over 3.25 goals looks the bet to me.
