The Premier League weekend continues with a very reduced day of action on Saturday when just the five matches take place as we head closer to the final international break of the year. Given that comes next week the 10 teams on show will be eager for three points to send them off with some confidence behind them.
It might be a reduced Saturday but the number of TV matches hasn’t lessened. We still have the usual two to enjoy in the UK and there are the usual ways of keeping up to date with everything in the other games.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated, UK TV in brackets)
Manchester United vs Manchester City (12.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
Brentford vs Norwich City
Chelsea vs Burnley
Crystal Palace vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Newcastle United (17.30 – BT Sport 1)

The day begins with the biggest match of the five on show as Manchester meets when the red side of Manchester United host the blue half of Manchester City in what is a cracking contest to take us into the international break with. You sense this one could be a match we look back at come the end of the season as a defining contest. The other televised match rounds off the action on Saturday evening when Brighton and Hove Albion go in search of another three points when they host Newcastle United who are still looking for a first victory of the campaign.
Three other matches all take place in the capital in the traditional 3pm slot. With Liverpool not playing until Sunday, leaders Chelsea have the chance to move six points clear at the top of the table should Manchester City have slipped up in the earlier game. The Blues host Burnley at Stamford Bridge while two of the promoted sides go at it when Brentford look to end a losing streak when they host Norwich City. If you are a neutral the pick of the matches could be at Selhurst Park where Crystal Palace host Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Betting
After a winner on Friday night I’m not going to go too mad here. I’ll take one though. That comes in the match in west London where Brentford host Norwich City in a clash between two sides who should know plenty about each other having fought each other for promotion out of the Sky Bet Championship last season. Brentford have made the better start to life in the Premier League than Norwich City have it has to be said.
It hasn’t all gone to plan in the last three matches for Brentford though. They have lost their last three matches but two of those three were at home to Chelsea and Leicester City, both of whom are a few classes above Norwich. This is a Norwich side who haven’t won a match this season, who look horrendous defensively and aren’t much better in attack. They already look like a side who are resigned to their fate and an energetic, positive, front footed Brentford can take advantage of that. While those three defeats are a concern, they outplayed Chelsea and have beaten Arsenal here and held Liverpool. If the Bees are anywhere close to on it they should win this going away.
