Premier League 2021-22 – Sunday 16th January Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday with a two match card which has been reduced from three but which is no less important to the four sides on offer as they go about looking for three points to add to their tally.

Unfortunately the match which has been cancelled was one of the two TV matches scheduled for the Super Sunday show so we are down to one TV game and one match away from the cameras which will get regular updates during the coverage.

West Ham United vs Leeds United (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The live TV match of the day sees West Ham United facing Leeds United for the second Sunday in succession after they battled in the FA Cup last weekend. West Ham won that match and they know a win here will consolidate them in fourth place in the table. Leeds have had a good start to the weekend with two of the sides below them dropping points and will be looking to take advantage here.

Leeds looked a distinct second best in that cup game last week and injuries continue to hurt them. They will be slightly stronger here with Raphinha not being left on the bench but you could probably say the same about West Ham who are just playing some great football at the minute. They have won their last three in the Premier League and had that cup win as well so things are good for the Hammers right now. Leeds also won their last Premier League match but their record away from Elland Road is bang ordinary. They only have one win on their travels this term and that was at Norwich which isn’t much of a form guide and there was little that was convincing about it anyway. I fully expect a West Ham win here.

Liverpool vs Brentford (14.00)

The match away from the cameras sees Liverpool looking to keep any remaining semblance of a title race alive when they play host to a Brentford team who have already caused them plenty of problems in the reverse fixture this season.

This will be a fair test for Liverpool. This period of the season was always going to be tough with three players away at the Africa Cup of Nations but then they had their semi-final of the Carabao Cup on Thursday night and need to back up that showing here. That gives Brentford a sniff here. I’m not convinced they are good enough to go to Anfield and win just yet but they are good enough to cause problems. If pushed I’d take Brentford on a handicap but this is a pretty easy one to leave alone.
