Premier League 2021-22 – Sunday 19th September Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend concludes on what will be a sombre ‘Super Sunday’ after the sad news broke of the passing of Jimmy Greaves earlier in the day. Fittingly, his two biggest clubs meet to headline a day where another of the teams he played for us also in action.

There are three matches in all over the course of the day. Two of them are live on TV in the UK and the Super Sunday show will have regular updates on the other game so there is no need to miss out on any of the action.

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)

West Ham United vs Manchester United (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Football)

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Leicester City (14.00)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea (16.30)

Preview

There are two early kick offs in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon where the televised action comes from the London Stadium as one of the clubs Jimmy Greaves played for are in action as West Ham United host Manchester United and a certain Cristiano Ronaldo. Both teams have differing outcomes in Europe in midweek and will be keen to win here. Away from the cameras Brighton and Hove Albion will be looking to potentially move second in the table when they play host to a Leicester City who haven’t had the start to the season they would have wanted.

The later kick off comes from what I’m sure will be a sad and poignant Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where the home side Tottenham Hotspur, where Greaves is loved and rightly revered, host the other club synonymous with the career of the brilliant striker in Chelsea in what is usually a fiery London derby. The fact that both sides could end the weekend second in the Premier League table with a win will only intensify the occasion.

Betting

My only bet on Sunday comes in the later game to kick off where I expect Chelsea to see off Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs were in action on Thursday in the Europa Conference League which is never an ideal thing and they are missing a whole bunch of players for this match so will be testing their squad depth here. Chelsea are not the team you want to be testing your squad depth against either because there are strong claims they are the best team in the Premier League.

Among the players expected to miss this match are Lucas Moura, Davinson Sanchez, Giovani lo Celso and Steven Bergwijn while Son Heung-min is a doubt so Spurs’ attacking options will be severely tested. Chelsea have a full set of talents at their disposal and for me are much the better team of the two. I wasn’t all that keen on Spurs heading into the season and although they started better than I expected I’m still not overly keen. If Chelsea are going to be the champions this year this is the sort of place they need to go to and lay a marker down. I’ll take the Blues here.
