The Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon and it does so with the final three matches taking place around the midlands area of the country on a day which will see teams looking for a win to start off a busy week.
Two of the three matches will be live on the TV for us in the UK to enjoy while the other one has been shifted because of the involvement of West Ham in Europe in midweek to make a third game on the day.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle United (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The first of the two TV matches comes from Molineux where Wolverhampton Wanderers will go in search of a first league win of the campaign. They play host to Newcastle United who have made a positive start to their season.
Wolves have picked up just one point from their first three matches and have done nothing to alleviate the concerns of many who thought they were contenders for the drop this term. That point came in a 0-0 draw with Fulham and although they’ve only conceded three goals in their three matches, they have only scored one and that has been their issue for a while now. Newcastle won their opening match of the campaign against Nottingham Forest before draws with Brighton and Manchester City and have since bolstered their attacking department with the signing of Alexander Isak, who could make his debut at some point here. I suspect Newcastle will come out on top here but I’m not as certain about it as I’d like to be to go with a bet.

Aston Villa vs West Ham United (14.00)
The one match which isn’t available on the TV in the UK sees Aston Villa going in search of a second league win of the campaign when they host rock bottom West Ham United, who despite making progress in Europe in midweek have not started their domestic season in particularly good shape.
I don’t know whether David Moyes will be worried about the Hammers’ start to the season three matches into it but I’m sure he will be concerned that his side are yet to find the net in the Premier League. We can probably allow them not scoring against Manchester City but going goalless against Nottingham Forest and Brighton and Hove Albion is more of a concern. Aston Villa have three points on the board but their start hasn’t been a great deal better. That win came against Everton but they were clinging on for dear life at the end of that one and were beaten tamely by Bournemouth and Crystal Palace in their other two outings. It probably isn’t a profitable strategy to back the over in a match featuring a team who have yet to score this term but neither of these defences look like keeping a clean sheet at the minute but both teams have a number of good attacking options. Given their weak started to the season both teams could really go with a win here which might lead to a more open match than normal. I like over 2.5 goals in this one.
Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur (16.30 – Sky Sports Main Event & Sky Sports Premier League)
The final match of the weekend comes from the City Ground where Nottingham Forest will go after a second win of their first season back in the Premier League this century. Tottenham Hotspur will be the opposition for Steve Cooper’s men.
Forest can go into this one with a relaxed mentality because they have picked up four points from their opening three matches so they have eased any pressure which comes from starting a season slowly after promotion. Whatever happens to them this season won’t be determined by results against the likes of Tottenham so they can give this a real good go, as they did against West Ham here a fortnight ago which yielded their only win of the campaign to date. Forest will need to play well to win here though you suspect because Tottenham have started the season well with a couple of wins and a draw at Chelsea. Antonio Conte did some excellent work in the summer and already that is looking like paying off. I expect Spurs to win this match but that is reflected in the price and it is too early in the season to be chasing short odds on away teams so I’ll leave this one alone.
