Premier League 2023-24 – Sunday 21st January Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The reduced Premier League weekend continues on Sunday afternoon with a double header of action that is going to have a fair impact on the top of the table as well as the battle to avoid the drop.

Both matches will be able to be watched live on TV in the UK across the various broadcasters who cover this league so there is no reason not to sit back on a Sunday afternoon and take in a couple of Premier League games.

Sheffield United vs West Ham United (14.00 – TNT Sports 1)

The opening match of the afternoon comes from Bramall Lane where Sheffield United will look to fire some life into their season when they host a West Ham United side who will be looking to put a disappointing FA Cup exit in midweek behind them.

A lot of judges look to be getting Sheffield United onside in this one because West Ham are missing some key players in the form of Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta while Jarrod Bowen is said to be a major doubt for this one as well. That is all well and good but Sheffield United have shown little signs of winning many matches. There is a case to be made that they have been more competitive under Chris Wilder but there hasn’t been an improvement in results and they look very weak at both ends of the pitch. West Ham haven’t been watertight defensively but they usually score goals so if I was getting involved in this one I’d be leaning towards a goal angle but it isn’t really a match which interests me.

AFC Bournemouth vs Liverpool (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The second match of the day comes from the Vitality Stadium where Bournemouth will look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they go up against the leaders Liverpool, who have seen the entire chasing pack win before them already.

Bournemouth lost to Tottenham in their last Premier League match but they played well in that game and prior to that had been in excellent form. They have lost a couple of attacking players to the Africa Cup of Nations though but so have their opponents in this one in Liverpool. Liverpool beat Arsenal in the cup a couple of weeks ago without Mo Salah but they had to seriously ride their luck to do so and this could quickly become a tricky assignment for Liverpool if they allow it to. I don’t really see how this isn’t going to be an open game because even though Liverpool are without Mo Salah their attacking options at sizeable but they are not the best defensively. We should be in for an open and attacking game and so the bet I like here is for there to be over 28.5 match shots. Liverpool average 19 shots per game while Bournemouth only average a shade over 14 for the season but that number will be much higher for the second part of the played games than the first one. Balls will regularly be in the box here and I think we go up to 28.5 shots and beyond in this one.
