Premier League 2023-24 – Sunday 31st March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

It is a huge day in the Premier League title race on Sunday when the top three are all in action across a massive double header in the division, on a day where the title won’t be won or lost either way, but someone will come out of it in pole position.

Two of the top three meet in a tantalising looking second match of the day but the first one has entertainment and potential banana skin written all over it so we should be in for quite a day of Premier League football.

Liverpool vs Brighton and Hove Albion (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The opening match of the double header on Sunday sees Liverpool looking to return to the top of the table for a few hours at least when they host a Brighton and Hove Albion side who could be in a bit of limbo for the remainder of the campaign.

Brighton don’t really have much to play for from this point onwards. That could make a very entertaining side even more dangerous but it could also go the other way and their season could fall away after their European exit, especially with mixed messages coming out of the mouth of their manager who clearly isn’t aligned with the plan moving forward. This one is all about Liverpool though. They know a win here will put them in front in the race for the title ahead of the second game but they have had their problems with Brighton in recent times. They haven’t beaten the Seagulls with Roberto de Zerbi as manager so there is clearly something they struggle with. Brighton have a host of injuries though so this is the best chance Liverpool will have to beat them. This feels like a trappy game though. I’d expect goals but the line is quite high so I’ll leave this one alone.

Manchester City vs Arsenal (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The second part of the double header comes from the Etihad Stadium where the title chances of one side won’t completely end on Sunday but things will get a lot harder if there is a loser when Manchester City play Arsenal.

These two have built up a bit of a rivalry in recent seasons, led largely by Mikel Arteta leaving City to go to Arsenal and looking to build a team to dethrone them, helped by a couple of signings from the Etihad to boost his Gunners squad. While they have built up a rivalry, probably enhanced by the Arsenal win in the reverse fixture this season, City have largely dominated the key games when they have met. Man City weren’t in a great place when they headed to the Emirates Stadium earlier in the campaign and only then did a deflected effort get the better of them. City are looking much stronger now and we know this is the time of the season when they click into gear. I do think there is more about Arsenal this season though so I wouldn’t want to call the result with any certainty, although we probably won’t be getting odds against on the home side again for a while so that is certainly tempting. I’ve just got a feeling this will be higher scoring than many expect. Prior to that game in London earlier in the season, both meetings in the two previous campaigns saw both games go over 2.5 goals. Given that City are missing two key defenders and that both teams look weakest in the full-back area which is where the opposition is strongest in terms of the wider attackers, I think the stars have aligned for some goals here. There is so much attacking talent on the pitch and if Liverpool have won earlier in the day losing is not an option here so I’ll take over 2.5 goals in this one.
