Another weekend of Premier League action gets up and running on Saturday when half of the division are on show looking to pick up three more points as we head towards the halfway point of the competition.
Usually we would have an early kick off but with plenty of teams being away in Europe in midweek we don’t have one here. We do have one TV game to enjoy after the 3pm matches, which will have updates in the usual places.
3pm Matches
Two title challengers are on show in the opening part of the day. It is a rare Saturday afternoon where the leaders Liverpool are in 3pm action. They host a Fulham side who are performing very well this term. Arsenal are the other title challengers on show in the beginning of the day. They look to have the easier task of the two title chasers when Everton are the visitors to the Emirates Stadium.
The other two matches will have more of an impact at the other end of the table. Two teams currently in the bottom three meet in one of them at Molineux where Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Ipswich Town. We’re still in the first half of the season but already this looks like a relegation six-pointer. The other game sees Ruud van Nistelrooy taking his Leicester City side to Dt James’ Park to take on a hit or miss Newcastle United outfit, who admittedly are much more hit than miss on their own patch.

Late Game
The one TV match on Saturday comes in the evening game which takes us to the City Ground to see whether the positive campaign of Nottingham Forest can continue when they look to follow up their win at Old Trafford last weekend when they entertain an Aston Villa side who are likely to buzzing themselves after their win in the Champions League in midweek. Villa haven’t got the best record after a Champions League outing which could give Forest plenty of encouragement.
Betting
I like a couple of bets over the course of the afternoon and the first of those comes in the Newcastle United shots market where the line looks a little on the low side at 18.5. Newcastle are a much better team at St James’ Park than they are away from home and in their last two home matches they have registered 18 shots against West Ham United and 17 against Liverpool and this Leicester defence is nothing like as good as those. Leicester recently conceded 31 shots to West Ham while even Brighton, who control the ball more than look to open sides up, had 16 shots at the weekend. Earlier in the campaign Arsenal had 35 shots against Leicester too. Newcastle have a point to prove after a poor loss to Brentford last week and there is every chance Leicester are the ideal dance partners for the Toon to take their frustration out on. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that they can get to 19 shots.
The other bet I like is for Ipswich Town to have the most corners against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves’ record with corners this season is really poor. They are averaging under three per match and couldn’t even register a single corner in the defeat at West Ham last week. Their last five home matches have seen them yield 3, 1, 3, 1 and 2 corners and they have lost the corner count in each of those games. Away from home in their last five Ipswich have picked up 7, 2, 5, 5 and 10. Anything in that five range here and they are going to have a great chance of having the most corners. Wolves average under three corners per game this season while Ipswich average five a match. 8/5 on Ipswich to have the most corners looks way too big.
