Premier League 2024-25 – Saturday 15th March Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The last weekend in the Premier League prior to the international break gets underway on Saturday afternoon when half of the division are in action on a day where events at the bottom of the table will be mostly in the spotlight.

We don’t have an early kick off this week which means that we only have one match live on TV for us in the UK to enjoy and that comes along at the end of the day. The other matches will have updates in all of the normal places.

3pm Matches

Nottingham Forest are the highest team on show on Saturday. They are probably involved in the most important match of the day because they go to Portman Road to take on Ipswich. The dream of Champions League football is looking closer to becoming a reality for Forest and that will further be the case if they can win here but Ipswich won’t have given up hope of staying in the division but need to start winning soon. The other match with implications at the bottom of the table comes from St Mary’s Stadium where Southampton will play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers with the visitors looking to condemn their hosts to another step closer to relegation.

The other two matches in the afternoon card don’t have quite as much significance although two sides chasing European football next season meet at the Etihad Stadium where Champions League chasing Manchester City play host to Brighton and Hove Albion while the other match will probably be a big one for David Moyes when he takes his Everton side into battle against the team who allowed him to leave in the summer in West Ham United when the two sides meet at Goodison Park.

Late Game

The closing match of the day on Saturday takes us to the Vitality Stadium where Bournemouth will look to keep up their challenge to be playing European football next season when they go up against a Brentford outfit who continue to stay well above water in terms of the Premier League table. These two clubs know how to get the best out of their players and have styles which are quite similar in terms of winning the ball high and getting at the opposing defence. Both teams take the game to the opposition so we should be in for quite an entertaining closer to the day in the Premier League.

Betting

There isn’t too much to get stuck into on Saturday with the reduced number of games but I can’t ignore the near even money on Nottingham Forest to get the better of Ipswich Town. Ipswich have put up a good showing in the Premier League this term but I’ve mentioned a few times in recent weeks that I just think they have run out of steam and I can testify to that because I saw it with my own team in this very division at near enough the same time last season and I expect Forest to take advantage of that.

Forest had a bit of a wobble six weeks or so when they lost at Bournemouth, Fulham and Newcastle but their record against the teams in the bottom half of the table is generally very good and they are reliable. They have already beaten Ipswich in the reverse meeting and have won every match away from home against teams in the bottom half. There is a confidence about Forest and the style of these two sides with Ipswich looking to get on the front foot and that will allow Forest to soak up pressure and look to hit on the counter which is the way they like to play their football. Both teams will get to play out their style here but Forest are just the better side and I expect them to come out on top here.
