Premier League 2024-25 – Tuesday 1st April Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League returns from an extended break on Tuesday night when three matches open up a midweek round of action, one which is going to give us a clearer picture in the race for all sorts of things and we enter the home straight in the campaign.

Annoyingly for those of us who are in the UK only one of the matches will be live on the TV for us to enjoy. Hopefully the TV coverage will have regular updates and highlights from the other two games so we can follow any bets.

Arsenal vs Fulham (19.45)

There will be plenty of attention on the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening as Arsenal look to put an ounce of pressure onto Liverpool in the race for the title when they host a Fulham side who will be smarting from their cup departure at the weekend.

Arsenal have stumbled at times this season but although it would need something quite miraculous to happen for them to win the title from here, they are expecting to have Bukayo Saka back for this match and that would at least solve some of the issues that they have had in attacking areas since the turn of the year. That will turn the onus onto their defence, which in the main has been pretty solid this season but this Fulham outfit can bloody the noses of anyone on their travels which should keep a keen interest in this one for both sides. Fulham have been one of those teams that I just can’t work out and I’d like official confirmation that Saka is starting before I get involved in Arsenal so this one is an easy one to leave alone.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United (19.45)

The other earlier game to kick off does so at Molineux where two sides without too much to play for meet when Wolverhampton Wanderers play host to West Ham United in a game which might turn into a bit of a tough watch.

I say both sides have nothing to play for, Wolves might not see it like that. Mathematically they are only nine points clear of the relegation zone and anything but safe but our eyes will tell us that they are as good as safe because you wouldn’t put money on either Ipswich Town or Leicester City getting nine more points this season and even then Wolves have a huge goal difference advantage. West Ham have done more than enough under Graham Potter to survive and they are already looking towards next season. I’m not expecting a classic here though. West Ham have tightened right up under Potter but aren’t exactly flowing in attacking areas of the pitch. While Wolves are conceding an average of two goals per game this season, they have tightened up under Vitor Pereira and have only let in seven in their last seven matches. There is no Matheus Cunha for this match though and he has contributed towards almost half of their goals this season. Against a West Ham side who aren’t likely to be too expansive this one could quickly fizzle out into a stalemate which neither would mind so a small punt on no goalscorer will serve me for an interest here.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United (20.00 – TNT Sports 1)

The one match on TV in the UK on Tuesday evening comes from the City Ground where Nottingham Forest will look to continue their push for the Champions League when they host a Manchester United side for whom the Europa League will be the main focus of attention but they still need to bolster their league position.

Forest go into the game off the back of the jubilation of reaching Wembley in the FA Cup so this is all set up to be a special season for them. It is the exact opposite for United but to be fair to them, they have come up with some bigger performances against the sides towards the top of the competition but there is nothing convincing about their displays at all. Despite that, I fancy this could be a bit of a tight game because Forest look like they are going to be without Chris Wood and we know that they like to soak up pressure and hit on the counter but you would imagine United will be well aware of that and will put some legs in their back line so this could easily descend into another stalemate. I particularly think that could be the case in the opening period. United scored in the first half against Leicester last time out but that isn’t requiring a lot. Prior to that, they hadn’t scored in the opening period in seven successive away matches. Forest aren’t always free scoring at home in the first half. They haven’t scored in the first half of any of their last three home games and didn’t do it at Brighton on Saturday so 0-0 at half time at over 2/1 looks big to me.

Another bet that looks big to me is the 11/1 on Nikola Milenkovic to score anytime. He scored in the reverse fixture and you would imagine that Forest will get a few set plays in this one for him to move up and score again. The Serbian has scored in two of his last six starts for Forest so that immediately makes the 11/1 look big. He has four goals in 28 matches over the course of the Premier League campaign so he is scoring every seven games on average which also makes this look big. Against a United defence that does more flattering to deceive than it does convince that 11/1 is hard to ignore.
