The first two matches of 2017 form the make up of the latest Super Sunday this weekend and with four London sides in action it has the potential to be a spiky afternoon in the Premier League. Two of the top five will be playing and looking for a win to keep Chelsea in their sights so it is an important double header.
Watford vs Tottenham
The opening match sees Tottenham looking for a win which will move them above Man City in the table. They face a Watford side for whom an indifferent run has come at the wrong time and seen them drop down the table so they will be after a win to arrest that slide.
I think all things being equal Tottenham should win this match but Watford can be dogged and hard to break down and they offer something the other way so I can’t say I’m convinced Tottenham will win and the prices aren’t really anything to tempt me in on this early game so I’ll sit this one out.
Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
The pick of the two matches looks to be the one at the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal look to move back into third place in the table when they host Big Sam and his Crystal Palace side who are desperate for the points themselves.
We know what to expect from Arsenal in this match. They will look to play on the front foot and take the game to Palace but I’m not sure the visitors will be against that as they love to play on the counter attack and we know how vulnerable Arsenal are to counter attacks so this one will be interesting.
Arsenal snapped a run of eight matches in a row of both teams scoring in their games when they beat West Brom 1-0 last time out while four of Palace’s last five and seen both teams find the net with their failure to score against Chelsea the game which didn’t so the potential for both to score and the styles they employ suggest that might well be the way to profit in this one.
