Another Premier League weekend begins on Saturday with six matches in the top flight on a day where four of the top five are in action as well as the bottom three on what is set to be another pivotal and dramatic round of fixtures.
As with most Saturdays we have three kick off times with an early game, a late game and four at the usual 3pm time. We’ll go through them in time order.
Early Kick Off
The action begins at Turf Moor as Burnley host Manchester City. Burnley will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to West Brom on Monday night while City know they will go top for a few hours if they win the match.
3pm Matches
Hull will look to climb out of the bottom three when they host West Brom at the KC Stadium while the champions Leicester will be looking to concentrate on a much needed PL win now that they are through in the Champions League. They host Middlesbrough. All eyes will be on Liverpool to see if they can go back to the top of the table when they face Sunderland at Anfield while Swansea host Crystal Palace in a big match for both sides.
Late Game
A dramatic day finishes with a grudge match at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea host Tottenham. It won’t be lost on anyone that it was in this fixture which Tottenham finally lost their chances of winning the title last year so this should be a particularly spicy affair.
Betting
There isn’t a lot I fancy on this card. I’m tempted to take Leicester but at odds on I think I’ll let them win if they are good enough and the same with Chelsea later in the day. In the end I’ve decided to go with just one.
West Brom are going well right now and although they only beat a naïve Burnley side on Monday night the emphatic nature of that win should have given them plenty of confidence and belief going forward. Hull just don’t look like they are going to be good enough at this level. You can’t lose 3-0 at Sunderland and expect to survive.
Hull have lost seven of their last eight matches and the one they won was against a Southampton side who were fighting an emotional high after a significant Europa League win. In the seven defeats Hull have only scored three times and with West Brom being well drilled in defence those struggles are set to continue. I’m with West Brom here especially with the draw cover.
