Things are really getting serious at both ends of the Premier League table now and the next set of fixtures which will be played out across all three days this weekend promise to be a really interesting one as the fixtures are such that we should see huge developments in all the key areas.
In total there are seven matches to get us going for the weekend on Saturday and as usual they will be played over the three different kick off times. The top two are all in action as are plenty at the bottom end of the table.
Early Kick Off
Tottenham have a fantastic opportunity to pile the pressure on Chelsea when they host Watford in the early kick off. A win for Tottenham will move them within four points of Chelsea who don’t have the chance to respond until much later in the day. Watford aren’t playing for a lot but this is a London derby so they’ll aim to make it tricky for Spurs.
3pm Matches
There is a huge clash at the bottom end of the table at the Olympic Stadium when West Ham host Swansea in a match neither will dare to lose. Middlesbrough face a match they can’t lose themselves when they host Burnley at the Riverside. Man City will be looking to cement their top four credentials when they host in-form Hull while Liverpool have the same ambition when they head to Stoke. Two mid-table sides meet when West Brom host Southampton.
Late Game
The action concludes at the Vitality Stadium when Bournemouth host the leaders Chelsea. Chelsea could have seen their lead shrunk to just four points by the time they kick off here so this could be a big game for them but Liverpool and Arsenal have found winning at Bournemouth beyond them this season so it might not be a formality for the Blues.
Betting
I’m only interested in one in this division on Saturday and I guess in many ways it is an obvious pick but sometimes the obvious pays out and I’m hoping that will be the case here.
It comes in the form of Stoke City. In fairness Stoke aren’t in great form but they are a much different proposition at home than they are away so I’m largely prepared to forget that. The positive thing is Liverpool are equally as terrible away as they are good at home and amazingly Jurgen Klopp’s men still haven’t won without Sadio Mane in their side. He misses the rest of the season.
Whether Stoke win or not I’m not completely sure but I do expect to see a much better performance from the home side. Liverpool aren’t just without Mane. Adam Lallana is out and Philippe Coutinho is a huge doubt. They would be three huge absences and can ensure Stoke avoid defeat and maybe even edge out Liverpool. Chelsea only won here with a mistake from the Stoke keeper. I don’t see Liverpool winning.
