There are three matches in the Premier League on Sunday including the usual ‘Super Sunday’ double header as well as one match which isn’t in front of the live cameras in the UK. The big match of the weekend is the headline attraction on Sunday as fourth placed Man City host third placed Arsenal.
That is the second of the two live matches. We’ll preview the games in kick off order leaving the non-televised match until last.
Bournemouth vs Southampton
The day gets underway on the South coast as Bournemouth host their local rivals Southampton in what you like to think will be a feisty game but I’m not so sure it will. Bournemouth’s inconsistency continued in midweek as they extended their win-loss-win-loss sequence with a win over Leicester. Southampton failed to beat 10 man Stoke.
At the minute I’m finding both these sides difficult to bet on. One is inconsistent and the other doesn’t win enough matches, especially on the road, to lure me in. I did look at under 2.5 goals but the price on that is pretty skinny so I’ll sit out the opening match of the day.
Man City vs Arsenal
This is the big game of the day. With Chelsea winning on Saturday to go nine points ahead of Arsenal and 10 ahead of Man City already the losers of this match will be needing something special to pull the leaders back in so the stakes are high here.
Had Arsenal not surrendered the way they did at Everton in midweek I may well have taken them here because I just can’t be having this City defence but I actually think this could be a cagey sort of game given the meaning for both of them. Quite often teams cancel each other out on these occasions so the draw would be a runner. Overall there isn’t a bet or even a price that tempts me in so I’ll sit this out too.
Tottenham vs Burnley
Away from the cameras Tottenham host Burnley at the Lane with the home side needing the points to keep up their chase of those above them while Burnley will go in search of a first away win which in truth hasn’t looked like coming yet this season.
Tottenham look to be finding a bit of a groove now and that is no surprise given that Harry Kane is back and I expect them to win this. Burnley are shipping on average three goals a game on the road and their only away point remains at Old Trafford in a match they actually got battered in statistically and territorially.
Five of Tottenham’s six wins at the Lane this season have come without them conceding and given that Burnley have only scored one goal on the road all season you have to like the chances of this one being won to nil too.
