The remaining four matches in the Premier League weekend are to be played out on Sunday and what a day of action it should be with no fewer than three televised matches and one which was moved due to the Europa League matches on Thursday night.
This has the feel of a big day about it and so we’ll preview all four matches in full. We’ll go through them in kick off time order.
Watford vs Stoke
Two of the trickier sides to predict and bet on get the action underway on Sunday when Watford host Stoke. Watford go into the match as the favourites which is probably about right given their recent form but Stoke are dangerous at their best and I keep waiting for them to break out.
A value play might Watford to win by one goal but I’ve a feeling this could be a match they slip up in. That feeling isn’t strong enough to bet on though so I’ll sit the opener out.
Arsenal vs Bournemouth
The pressure is on Arsenal going into this match. They have seen the top three all win on Saturday and so now it is over to them to do the same and keep pace with those sides at the top. Bournemouth are improving and head into the game in the top half so this should be an entertaining match.
These are two of the best sides in the division to watch and I think we’ll get a fairly open match here and I like the idea of both teams to score. Bournemouth counter with pace and purpose while Arsenal will be confident with the ball so they should both get to play the way they like which can equate to both teams score for the fifth Arsenal league game in six.
Southampton vs Everton
Ronald Koeman heads back to St Mary’s Stadium for the first time since leaving in the summer here which is sure to crank up the anticipation and atmosphere for this match. I like Southampton but you would have to say both sides have the ability to flatter to deceive and that is never a good thing.
I like Everton more on the road at the minute than I do at home but Southampton play their own conditions very well so there is a chance the two cancel each other out in which case I want to be sitting this one out.
Man Utd vs West Ham
There is a case for this being the most entertaining match of the afternoon because neither of these two can defend. United played on Thursday night and backing that up is never easy while West Ham will be fresh enough and inspired enough to look to do some damage here.
Given the attacking power the two sides have at their disposal and the weakness they both have in defence both teams scoring in this one carries plenty of attraction too. Dimitri Payet is just starting to light the league up again and he can contribute to a West Ham goal to hopefully go with a United one.
