Premier League – Sunday 2nd April Matches Betting Preview

It was a crazy day in the Premier League on Saturday and Sunday is likely to be just the same as once again the top and the bottom of the table are in focus in another stacked ‘Super Sunday’.

Swansea vs Middlesbrough

The action kicks off at the Liberty Stadium as two sides deep in relegation trouble meet when Swansea host Middlesbrough. Swansea are just outside the drop zone on goal difference and a win here will give them some breathing space while Middlesbrough sit five points behind the Swans and even though they have a game in hand defeat here could signal the end of their chances of staying up.

Both sides have changed their manager this season. Paul Clement has had time to have an effect on Swansea and he has done exactly that and they go into this match off the back of three successive wins at home which is massive with home form being absolutely vital in any safety quest.

Steve Agnew is yet to have that time to change things and turn them around for Middlesbrough and that could be a significant issue for the visitors in this match. You really don’t need to look too far to work out Middlesbrough’s problems. They have 20 goals in 28 games. That keeps nobody up.

Middlesbrough have won just one away game all season – away to the only side below them in the league in Sunderland – and that was in their first away game. Since then they are winless on the road and I don’t see that changing here. They don’t score enough anyway but just eight in 14 on the road is borderline pathetic and their problem now is to develop a scoring streak they are going to have to take risks they’re not equipped to do. I’m with Swansea here. They are the better side and can show that.

Arsenal vs Man City

Once affairs at the bottom of the table have been attended to we go back to the top of the table for this massive match. Chelsea’s slip up on Saturday has opened the door for Man City to get a bit of pressure on the leaders with a win here while the match is must win for Arsenal if they are to keep up their streak of Champions League appearances. Defeat here and they can forget a top four finish.

I’m expecting a shootout here. Arsenal can’t defend. They don’t have the discipline to do it and worse still they face arguably the best counter attacking side in the division behind Chelsea so they are going to be under so much pressure but the situation of the table dictates that they will have to leave themselves exposed.

I fancy Man City will win this match but I think this is the kind of match we can get a little exotic with when it comes to betting. City don’t keep clean sheets against the top sides and Arsenal go into the game knowing they have to score. I don’t think they can keep this City juggernaut at bay though so I fancy City to win but not without Arsenal scoring. I also like the 2/1 that City score in both halves.

Pep’s men are going to get counter attacking chances at will and while their ruthlessness can be an issue from time to time that is usually against sides who sit in and deny space. Arsenal aren’t going to do that so I’ll back City to find the net in each half too.
